BioWare Blog post: Our Next Adventure — Dragon Age: Dreadwolf

Our next game now has an official name. We know you’ve anxiously awaited new details, and today we’re excited to reveal the official title of the next adventure across the lands of Thedas—Dragon Age: Dreadwolf™.

Who is the Dread Wolf?

Solas, the Dread Wolf. Some say he might be an ancient elven god, but some say not. Others say a betrayer of his people…or a savior who now seeks to rescue them at the cost of your world. His motives are inscrutable and his methods sometimes questionable, earning him a reputation as something of a trickster deity—a player of dark and dangerous games.

Whether you’re new to Dragon Age™ stories or you’ve experienced them all, using Solas’s namesake no doubt suggests a spectrum of endless possibilities on where things may go. But at the core of this, like every past game, is you. If you’re new to Dragon Age, you have no need to worry about not having met our antagonist just yet. He’ll properly introduce himself when the time is right, but we did hint at his return when we announced #TheDreadWolfRises back in 2018.

MoreDragon Age: Dreadwolf later this year

We suspect you have questions and they’ll be answered in time. While the game won’t be releasing this year, we’re growing closer to that next adventure. Rest assured, Solas is placing his pieces on the board as we speak. That’s all we have for now, but we hope knowing the official title has sparked some intrigue, as we’ll be talking more about the game later this year!

What do you think #Dreadwolf could mean?

Combine the GIF’s. Don’t expect anything “huge” per se, but an announcement is nEAring.”

  • The next EA earnings conference call (which will be for Q1 2023) is on August 2nd 2022 at 2pm ET. Sometimes snippets emerge from these.
  • In a post on the Titanfall subreddit there is a photo of [allegedly] a shelf in a Gamestop in Germany, which includes a Dragon Age 4 box with a placeholder cover in the “pre-order now” section. probably doesn’t mean anything (placeholder promo assets based on a 'games which might come out/which have been mentioned’ list, speculative titles).
  • looks like some BioWare devs are back in the office.
  • On the BioWare Gear Store, the product description of the Next Mass Effect “Mass Effect Mysteries From The Future” lithograph has been changed, after some news outlets began reporting that the original description implied or accidentally revealed the return of Shepard in the next game (example, two). Michael Gamble has since tweeted that the original description was a mistake which has now been fixed, explaining that the original description was written by folks who aren’t familiar with the game. for reference the original description can be read here.
  • It’s being reported that the BioWare contractors who are trying to unionize will no longer be forced to return to the office. according to an internal email, the company employing the group has reversed the policy requiring them to return to the office. “In an email sent on Friday, they were informed that “until further notice please maintain working from home”.” [source] There’s also this update on this situation:

The Alberta Labour Relations Board has also officially ordered a unionization vote by mail-in ballot, according to a notice seen by The Verge. The Board has also recommended that the potential bargaining unit be expanded from all Keywords Studios workers “employed in development support at the BioWare office in Edmonton” to “all employees.”

According to a Keywords Studios employee involved with the organizing efforts, the revised description would apply just to Keywords Studios employees in Alberta and means that two additional workers who do not work with BioWare will receive ballots. The size of the bargaining unit is expected to be between 15 to 20 people. Completed ballots will remain sealed until the size of the bargaining unit is finalized. [source]
