I have so much love for Attolia and Gen

Quotes from The Queen of Attolia by Megan Whalen Turner @meganwhalenturner

“He could tell her he loved her. He ached to shout it out loud for the gods and everyone to hear. Little good it would do. Better to trust in the moon’s promises than in the word of the Theif of Eddis. He was famous in three countries for his lies”

- Megan Whalen Turner, The Queen of Attolia

I know this quote doesn’t match up with the scene but it’s so sweet and one of my favorite lines from this book which is truly one of my favorite books and I have read more times than I can count!

@meganwhalenturner

Just like the chess piece, the Queen of Attolia moves in any direction she chooses.

(Of course, in this analogy, Gen would be the figurehead king that appears to be useless. He’d like that. Relius would be Queen side bishop, closest advisor to the Queen, and Teleus queens side knight)

Costis didn’t believe for a moment there had ever been a real Klimun, or a real Gerosthenes. He looked at Phresine for some understanding of the king’s distress, but Phresine was looking into space and seemed unaware of the king’s unhappiness.

“So,” she said, “Gerosthenes hit Klimun over the head with the amphora.”

“Ha,” the king snorted in relief. Phresine affected not to notice this any more than his earlier distress. She continued.

Post it note art during a meeting that should have been an email. Gerosthenes, I have a few people I’ll need you to hit over a head with an amphora when they open their mouths, please and thank you.

I almost forgot my 2021 art recap! I think I have less to show this year than last unfortunately, and most of them (in fact all of them in the top image) were done for the great Legend of Eli Monpress doodle along. I don’t know if I inspired anyone to give the series a try, but I certainly enjoyed drawing along with one of my favorite series! Special mention to the other three fandoms that made it into my 2021 sketchbook, the fantastic Queens Thief series, my poor unknown Truth Series, and the unforgettable (see what I did there??) FullMetal Alchemist.

Wishing all my followers and friends be blessed in their endeavors in 2022!
