Porthos fetched Aramis cross by himself
A little comic of d'Artagnan and Athos from Vingt Ans Après, between chapter XVI and XVII.
D'Art can’t sleep and goes to the kitchen.

1. D’art: …! Well, well!
2. D : Hoho my friend ! Always remaining at your post!
A: That is me.
D: Is the wine still good as ever?
3. A: You cannot lose bad habits when they are as sweet as this.
D: Haha!
4. A: Tell me…
D: Yes?
A: Yesterday, you asked me this question…
Page 3
1. A: “Are you happy?” Do you remember?
2. D: Ah, yes! I’m not so drunk as to forget!
3. A: What about you?
4. D: Well…
5. D: I’d be lying if I said I don’t think back to our adventures
Page 4
1. D: Not that I do so with sadness, good times remain good.
2. D: Although I cannot help but think about all that could have been, had our paths not diverged so much.
3. D: I’m not unhappy, far from it.
D: But I do wonder.
4. D: About all those things that couldn’t turn real, and that we dropped along our way.
Page 5
1. D: That’s all.
2. A: Do you regret it?
3.
4. D: No.
5. D: No time for regrets. Because, after wandering for so long, we are reunited, are we not?
Page 6
1. D: Come now. Let’s toast.
2. D: To our missed opportunities.
3. A: …Hm. Heh.
4. And to all our future wanderings.
Chapter XLV - “Scène conjugale”
A short comic from a scene I liked in the Three Musketeers, between Milady de Winter and Athos.
I was searching on my library’s digital service and I think I’ve just found the most disturbing cover of ‘The Three Musketeers’ ever.
Creepy.
I watched The Man in the Iron Mask for the first time today, and not to spoil the ending but…
*cries*

The Three Musketeers (1973) / Faye Dunaway as Milady de Winter
It’s been a while since I watched these movies, but I’m pretty sure this is from The Three Musketeers and not The Four Musketeers. This beautiful silver gown (looks like satin?) is worn for a nature-themed fancy-dress ball, which explains the butterfly elements.
The costume designer for this film was Yvonne Blake, and I think she did a marvelous job! There’s nothing screamingly anachronistic, and the decoration looks appropriately sumptuous for the French court, with the silver lace and gem-encrusted trim.
One design element I like is the double string of pearls attaching to the central brooch. A single strand coming in from each side would be more expected, but the double strand is more visually interesting.
Book D’Artagnan: Some of my best friends are the most evil people I have ever encountered
One of my favorite thing about reading the sequels was that D’Artagnan spends the entire first book incensed with Rochefort, seeing him as the sign of all things evil- then in the second book they’re just besties.
Literally
They’re both just exhausted and don’t wanna deal with rivalries anymore
Musketeers has ruined flintlock weapons for me. They did such a god job with the flashes in that show I’m always slightly disappointed at everyone else.

Porthos: Hypothetically speaking
Porthos: At what point does fire become too much fire?
Porthos?? Fire???
Yes, I WILL take the slimmest of excuses to post about him.
Well, it took FOREVER but I finally finished my sketch of Porthos in his glorious Season 3 armor. Colored pencils and metallic pens on paper with a digital background. Much thanks to @enigma-the-mysterious for finding this pic.

“When you please, monsieur,” said Athos
Athos squares up to D'Artagnan while Porthos and Aramis stand by, from the Three Musketeers. Ink and acrylic, 5 x 7"
I’m currently listening to the twenty years after audiobook for the very first time and ALL Raoul-Athos interactions make me want to scream Athos is so devoted to his son he absolutely adores him he cares SO MUCH about this boy and I can’t help bracing myself for the worst bc Dumas just keeps pointing out parallels between Raoul and D’Artagnan and remarking on how well fatherhood fits Athos gfhjhkfdg I wouldn’t survive Raoul’s death, it would tear me apart…only thing I can do is keep my fingers crossed and hope in a happy ending…
