This is my dog, Astrid. She ran away some time ago and I miss her very much.

To honour her memory, and as a fun thing, I decided to include her in one of my bigger jobs: Illustrating for The Troubleshooters, an action-adventure tabletop roleplaying game of international mystery, inspired by European comics. I’ve written about it before here, when the Kickstarter went live. It’s art style is Franco-Belgian, and I’ve drawn a ton of things for it at this point.

I want to show them to people and I try to post TS-art regularly on my Patreon (good scheduling functions are good), along with sketches and line art. I post them publicly there, but I might try to post them here too, my scatterbrained existence allowing.

Hi, hello. Over the past year, I’ve done a number of illustrations for The Troubleshooters, “an action-adventure tabletop roleplaying game of international mystery, set in the 1960s and inspired by European comics”. Its kickstarter went live yesterday and I thought I’d share it here, since much of the art in it is mine. Being somewhat far from what I normally do, the style took some getting used to, which is always both frustrating and fun. Anyway: On the picture here is Yurika, one of the characters you’ll see in the book, as a mermaid. Sadly, there aren’t any mermaids in the game. Today is still may, however.

The first image is the cover illustration.

Character archetype illustrations for the ttrpg The Troubleshooters.

Various isolated illustration from the ttrpg The Troubleshooters.

Some characters from the Octopus organization, the main evil organization in the The Troubleshooters universe. The last seven images are illustrations for kickstarter backers who took the tier where they got themselves or someone else that they chose drawn as a villain for the game.

The first picture is Von Zadrith #2 of the Octopus organization. The second one is Zonda, #6. We don’t know who #1 is.

Illustrations for some The Troubleshooters quickplay scenarios and an homage to Mystery Inc, with them as Troubleshooters characters.

All quickplay scenarios are downloadable for free here.

The illustration for the Director’s Screen (Director, Game Master, Story Teller…) for The Troubleshooters. Please note my dog Astrid in the upper left corner.

The groups of people on the last two images are from a quick play scenario called The Minoan Affair. It, along with some other QPS that I also illustrated for can be found in the TBS archive, if anyone is interested in trying out the game. All of them are downloadable pdfs, for free.

The last six chapter header illustrations in the The Troubleshooters core rulebook, as well as the four chapter header illustrations for the TBS campaign book U-boat Mystery. Some of these took longer to draw than others…

Both the core rulebook and the campaign book are available at helmgast.se (French or English, PDF or print).

The first ten chapter head illustrations for The Troubleshooters core rule book. The people featured are the characters of a fictional RP group and are used to explain rules in written role play examples. You follow their “campaign” throughout the book.

Looking at the second picture from left to right, their names are: Elektra, Yurika, Paul, Harry, Frida and Éloïse.

Available on helmgast.se in both French and English, as book or PDF.

(Sketches and line art can be found on my Patreon.)
