can’t stop thinking about bertrand and dewey. beyond any question of a doubt dewy loves bertrand, but:
1. is it platonic and mutual?
2. did dewey assume it was unrequited and never tell bertrand?
3. did they give it a shot when they were younger and it didn’t work out?
4. was it unrequited but did dewey tell bertrand and bertrand had to tell him no? because their friendship was too important for even conflict avoidant bertrand to date him out of pity
5. did they both love each other but dewey couldn’t quite deal with how ridiculously poly bertrand is? (cause i have sort of come to head canon bertrand as being sincerely in love with lots of people all at once) (and i think dewey in a normal life would be cool with that, but crypid!dewey who is stuck alone in the library is kind of possessive and jealous)
6. does dewey tell bertrand one night when they are alone in the library just before everything goes to hell and beatrice and bertrand go off to the island “i want to say i’ll love you forever even if i never see you again, but i’ve seen the way lemony snicket looks at beatrice (and you) so i know i don’t really mean it.”?
This Valentine’s Day let me give you a brief insight in a few of the key relationships of my WIP. From the top, we have:
Anaichi and Yalerin: very sweet and full of trust, Anaichi is like a cool uncle, fun older brother and badass protector all rolled up into one for Yalerin, especially after he becomes her primary caretaker.
Yareina and Umaen: a friendship born from mutual respect that will deepen once they are forced on the run together; started out as a simple office relationship when she hired him to design a new aqueduct.
Naeth and Ny’ra: to Naeth, she’s a witty but easily flustered stray he’s taken in as his apprentice; she has a crush on him but she knows he’s too old and too gay for it to ever work. Milu is Naeth’s dangerous cat, who hates Ny’ra with a passion.
Naeth, Tessella and Treyha: Naeth is Tessella and Treyha’s only son, their pride and joy, and also their leader; Tessella and Treyha are husband and wife in an asexual relationship.
Anaichi and Telae: best friends who enjoy teasing each other. Anaichi especially loves to lord the fact that he’s slightly older over her, and Telae often bullies him into having fun. They are both the mom friend and occasionally butt heads because of this.
Telae and Yareina: a will-they-won’t-they kind of romance, they fancy each other and are aware of this, but a relationship would be too much of a hassle considering they live on different sides of a cold war situation.
Umaen and Naeth: husbands! Illegal husbands! Started out as colleagues, became insanely close, got together and now are in a long distance relationship. Here captured in two of their main moods: desperate yearning and tender domesticity.
Umaen and Anaichi: very close friends who would die for each other but are also there for the little things; their friendship began when Umaen found Anaichi wandering about, freshly betrayed by Niallen, and gave him a place to stay.
Anaichi, Niallen and Sasher: Anaichi and Sasher were both raised by Niallen, who certainly loves them very much; Niallen’s love is a heavy burden to bear, however… Plus Sasher wants very desperately to best Anaichi at Life.
That’s it! I’ve reached the image limit anyway. A few notes: if you’re wondering who Ny’ra is… that’s Sasher posing as an elf. If you’re wondering why Umaen is suddenly female presenting in the second picture, it’s because gender presentation is extremely fluid if you have magic and can change your appearance at will and with minimum effort (especially between elves, and he learned from Naeth) and it’s also convenient if you’re on the run.
I can’t get enough of the concept of how despite France is the one making the first move flirting with England to rile him up, England is the one who does most of the serious pursuing over the centuries.
France always has suitors pursuing him no matter what time period (Scotland, Spain, Russia, Germany, Japan and America had a crush on him at some point). So England has to do the pursuing, as a pirate would hunt for the booty. He’s more competitive and serious than the free-spirited France. France likes teasing, but England is more possessive and serious about such relationships. As soon as England gets over his denial - in public, he remains nonplussed but in their private lives, HE is the one booking the reservations, preordering France’s favorite wine, vying for his attention, dressing to impress, wooingthecrap out of his irritating Frenchman.
He may be an angry bastard man who’s out of his league, but DAMN is he stubborn and devoted. That’s why France falls for him!
cquackity and guilt and how it relates to ctommy is just. so good. when it comes to the torture of cdream, there’s a lot of anger and grief behind it, but behind all of that is guilt. guilt over exile, which tommy directly confronts him about. guilt over not stepping in sooner. guilt over saying goodbye to tommy and tubbo before they left to fight dream during the disc war finale. it’s all guilt.
tags from @viceduo: the way he reacted when he found out tommy died too. ouch. tommy is another person that he wasn’t strong enough to protect. he’s so guilty and angry and he cares so much for tommy. him just. repeating the same question over and over. and then completely shutting down. quackity knew early on that dream was the core problem. he knew and he still couldn’t stop him. that feeling of powerlessness and need to protect the people he cares about drives him.

La is wearing the same outfit as in her full body portrait, but now she is holding her helmet in one hand and reaching out to Yue with the other. She looks into Yue’s eyes with determination. i think a critical difference between catradora and griddlehark is that. once catradora are actually together they’re sickeningly loud and obnoxious about it. like, they commit PDA crimes on the regular and there is no stopping them. yeah catra is kinda unsure at first but then she sees how absolutely blissed out adora is (and maybe also how jealous glimmer is) and that overrides any trepidation. griddlehark though? griddlehark i think would actually be less insufferable to be around once they stopped dancing around each other. harrow is inherently a fairly private person in a way catra isn’t and gideon would feel less compelled to constantly act out for harrow’s attention once she actually knows she has it. in private sure they’d be schmoopy as fuck in their own way but in public i think they’d fairly easily manage to be, like, proper and professional and thus utterly baffling everyone that knew them as the walking disaster zones constantly threatening to pull any bystander into the event horizon of their unreasonably dramatic mutual pining
