yeah okay i also feel a little weird that they’re not performing zitti e buoni or something else like that but i have some thoughts:
1) both zitti e buoni and iwbys have swearing/explicit content (yes ik that they could swap cazzo for cosa but idk if fallon trusts them to hehe)
2) their version of beggin’ is the best version which exists
and most importantly
3) i think that their old cover of beggin’ is growing on them again. they played it at the london gig and why would they play anything other than exactly what they wanted to play there? and at global citizen, yes ik it was a global show but still. they (or damiano at least) loved that gig. they’ve never been ones to try to play the music that other people want to hear. they spent years in Italy with people telling them that rock was dead and nobody listened to it any more. and still they played rock because they love it. why would they change now? they do what they want and fuck anybody who tells them not to.
A summary of Måneskin’s secret London gig so that I can remember this night forever:
- the venue had a capacity of 800 people. It was TINY. so small and lovely
- the crowd was super excited, cheering at every little tiny thing before they came on
- ‘HIYA BITCHES’ *BAM BAM* *opening chords of indp’
- opening chords of zitti e buoni and everyone goes absolutely batshit crazy
- they played chosen!! and a medley of take me out/somebody told me! and beggin’ and close to the top! the old songs were out in full force
- paura del buio my beloved
- damiano stage dives pretty chill. then a bit later vic stage dives and after getting back on stage immediately gives thomas the eyes and then he also just gets straight into the crowd
- thomas stage dives like he was born to play on his back on top of a crowd
- when they stage dived the security ppl had to hold their feet it was so funny
- there was one twat who was doing something annoying, idk what but at the start of one song damiano just turns to this guy and goes 'stop being so fucking annoying’ and at the end of that song he just tells the guy to fuck off cause he’s ruining the show for everyone and security lead the guy out. After that damiano takes a huge breath and is like 'sorry guys, I just got really annoyed. Anyway,’

- all the songs were like 2 mins longer than the recorded version just so that thomas and ethan could go absolutely batshit crazy with new riffs and rhythms it was so coooollll!!!!
- in the middle of iwbys when the murder kids are jamming, damiano’s just like 'aight I want you all to get on your knees’ and then we kneel down and sing the chorus like twice then he’s like 'one two three four’ and JUMP
- this happened again in the iwbys encore
- i wanna be your dog featuring thomas shredding on damiano’s shoulders, those two vibe so hard it’s awesome
- at the end before lividi sui gomiti damiano shushes everybody and you could hear a pin drop. then the schoolkid 3 start picking random ppl out of the crowd to come on stage and dance with them and they go wild
- i swear nothing in the world is sexier than vic playing the bass riff to for your love
- they talk about the mammamia videoclip and 'these three motherfuckers used me’
- the sweet sweet shredding mmmmmm
- ethan goes so hard all the time what a man
- also threw 2 sets of sticks into the air: one after the main show, one after the encore
- vic and thomas both stage dived once more each
- 'are you having fun??’ 'I CANT FUCKING HEAR YOU I SAID ARE YOU HAVING FUCKING FUN???’
- yes damià we were having the time of our lives
- overall I get the impression that because there were so few ppl and they weren’t performing to cameras, they just let loose and did whatever the fuck they wanted and it was incredible, we all felt so safe and treasured :)))
- thomas just dancing
- also sticks the pick in his mouth when he wants to use his fingers
- vics leotard mmm oh boy
- tbh all their clothes were insane as usual ::))))
- coraline was so gentle :’)
- someone brought along an Italian flag and they were like 'eyyy Italian flag’ someone also threw a pride flag on stage and damiano danced with it a bit
- they just vibed so hard with each other, you could tell they were relaxed and giggly and just messing around on stage having fun
- the sound check and technical guys all had 'puppet’ on the backs of their tshirts
- the strobe lighting was crazy
- did I mention I was like 4 rows back?? and had such a good view!!
- set list was indp, zitti e buoni, take me out/somebody told me, beggin, chosen, coraline, la paura del buio, for your love, mammamia, close to the top, I wanna be your dog, iwbys, lividi sui gomiti, then iwbys again for the encore

appreciation post for thomas’ and ethans’ English skills which have grown so much since eurovision! their Amsterdam interview with 3fm was top notch <3
I know I am kinda late to the party, but I really want to talk about this music video. I actually planned on making a YouTube vid about it, but decided against it for a number of reasons. Anyways, without further ado, I would like to present you my problem with IWBYS music video:
1) It turned out looking cheap and boring - sure, all members of MÅ are hotter than hell and seeing them doing what they’ve been doing made some people lose their sanity, but for me it suspiciously looked like they just took backstage video recordings of some radom photoshoots and decided to present them as a standalone music video;
which could be totally fine, but…
2) They made us wait for the release for so long - and what did we get it the end?? After heating our tension up for an unreasonably long time (!) and making us all rethink the concept of “soon” we got…
• no new/interesting ideas
• no storyline
• no creative visuals
basically, we got nothing original - neither in general, nor in terms of their art (come on, this video is basically Zitti E Buoni in underpants, with all those quick change of static posing shots, fisheye shots, extreme closeups… and that’s pretty much it, that’s the whole music video. Kinda meh, if you throw away all the 3 seconds of kissing).
And I know what you’re thinking - oh, shut up, Gabriella, they are young, they are only at the beginning of their way, they might not have enough money for crazy ideas - to which I’ll reply NUH-UH:
• it’s not like they couldn’t find a talented beginner director, who would’ve been happy to work with them for a plate of carbonara
• they all are wearing Gucci underwear - why hello, paid product placement
• plus, speaking about money, they got some real soldifromIWBYS merch they dropped just couple of days later - and this is how we get to my biggest problem with this video-THE FUCKING DISRESPECT.
Remember when I said I thought that this vid looked like a backstage photoshoot tape? Guess what - I was right!THE LAZINESS. THE AUDACITY. I was so mad, you have no idea. Filming merch-oriented photoshoots backstage and then setting up the whole campaign to make everyone think they are serving us something special? Wow. The guys really wanted to kill two birds with one stone, and I guess they pretty much succeed - I mean, I feel like I am the only one complaining. To me, it felt like they were more interested in milking money than in making art, which made me feel really angry, and then - very, very sad.
You see, I do realize that nowadays merch is a very important source of income for musicians - especially since 2020 made us all forget about live shows. The music itself isn’t their only bread and butter - I understand and respect that, but did Måneskin really have to be this lazy and blatant in trying to earn some money? They are incredibly talented people with so much things to say and so much potential to give. I truly considered them as ones of the few artists, who, in these capitalistic times, chose to be genuine and stay true to art and music. However, all that IWBYS business reeked with greed and money chasing so much, that now I cannot look at Måneskin the same way anymore… Will I still listen to their music? Sure. Will I support them as musicians? Of course. Will I be as excited about their dropout campaigns as I was before? Sigh. Not really…
