I have to say that seeing the the owl house have representation that’s just kinda out there is really cool to see. Seeing two young teens navigate a queer relationship on tv and it being shown as normal and natural is awesome. I grew up with no representation when I was younger and I didn’t really even know my own identity until I was in my freshman year of high school, and even when I did figure out I was a lesbian it felt like some big secret because you didn’t really see it in media and nobody my age was supposed to talk about it.

Kids today get to see queer relationships on tv and they don’t have to view representation as a step in the right direction or as a win for the lgbt community. They get to see it as a normal, healthy relationship and they get to navigate there own identity at a younger age. What I hope this means for kids is not having to view their identity as a burden or a secret. I hope that because of representation in shows like The Owl House, she ra, Steven universe and so many other new cartoons, kids today will feel safe in their identity.

I’m really happy to see what Dana has done and I’m really happy that kids get to grow up with different media than I did. Thank you Dana Terrace and thank you cast and crew of the owl house!
