Thomas Dewing was an American painter working at the turn of the 20th century. His style was influenced by the Englishaesthetic movement, which prioritised beauty and sensual qualities opposed to traditional moral or narrative considerations. His art became known for an extreme refinement of style, as well as its characteristic dream-like haze and detachment.

Forests and glades

Inness was an Americanlandscape painter, recognised during his lifetime as “the father of American landscape painting”. Initially influenced by the Hudson River School, after study in Europe, his style found itself aligned with the realist Barbizon school, with elements of ImpressionismandTonalism. He is best-known for his ethereal landscapes, often blanketed in mist or low-sun.

Russian and Soviet artist. After graduating from art school in Kazan, he entered the IAH, in the landscape workshop of I.I. Dubrovsky. At the same time, he was engaged in portrait painting and drawing in the workshop of P.P. Chistyakov and V.E. Savinsky. He graduated from the IAH in 1912. From 1919 to 1922. Headed VKHUTEMAS in the city of Ufa. Since 1922. He taught drawing at the State Art and Industrial College in Leningrad. He made a number of creative trips around the country. A series of works by N.A. Protopopov, written in besieged Leningrad during the Great Patriotic War, is known. He created a portrait gallery of scientists and cultural figures.
