Overall one of the better origin retellings… or at least it didn’t seem to drag as much as some of the others… probably because there was a lot less to go over though…

Also while I’m back on my rants about Toro:

The fact that his casual clothes always seem to be weird fitting oversized stuff?? Like I get maybe a reference to that whole Mr. Raymond plot that didn’t really happen.

But you’re telling me a guy who lived through the 50s and loves french literature wasn’t a Beatnik???

matty-murderdock:

This idea that Bucky is “the violent one” between him and Toro that some people have is such a weird one because while yes, Bucky is definitely more feral by far - he was raised on an Army base and trained as a child assassin, so that’s totally to be expected - Toro is definitely just as bad as him, he’s just way more petty about it.

Like Bucky will shoot you in the face or slice your throat open, but Toro over here will torch your plane out of the air or surround you in flames until you die from suffocation. Bucky is more direct about it, but Toro is equally dangerous and full of rage. He’s just better at hiding it so he comes across as the more sane, pacifistic one to people who don’t know them all too well despite this being a blatant falsehood.

The moral of the story is, both of them wake up every morning and choose violence and this is exactly why they’re best friends. They’re both murder children and while Bucky was trained to be that way, Toro just snapped one day and he’s never gone back.
