I finished my Yuri on Ice Cream print! All your favourite skaters on matching sweets. The menu, and my subsequent reasoning, is:
•Yuri: Taiyaki, red bean and green tea mochi ice cream
(Japanese sweets, slightly more traditional but modernized)
•Victor: Chocolate ice cream
(because Makacchin is a chocolate poodle ha)
•Yurio: Tiger tail ice cream
(this speaks for itself, but I added the choco straws because they were stripey too)
•Otabek: Plombir ice cream
(an ice cream found in Russia and Kazakhstan)
•JJ: Maple ice cream, topped with maple syrup and tire sur la neige
(because maple everything. There’s even maple leaf sprinkles! Tire sur la neige is maple sap poured on snow)
•Seung Gil: Red bean bingsu
(Binsu/bingsoo/patbingsu is Korean shaved ice)
•Emil: Trdelnik ice cream
(trdelnik is Czech chimney cake/doughnut type pastry that some places put ice cream in)
•Michele: Pistachio, vanilla, and strawberry gelato
(Gelato of course, but also in the colours of the Italian flag)
•Guang Hong: Mango shaved ice and condensed milk
(Baobing is a shaved ice dessert popular in China, Taiwan, and Malaysia)
•Leo: Frozen yogurt topped with sprinkles
(Frozen Yogurt being invented in the US)
•Phichit: Thai friend ice cream rolls
(Thai fried Ice cream rolls
•Georgi: Sea salt and salted caramel ice cream
(He is the saltiest man)
•Cristophe: Vermicelles on Chocolate and Vanilla ice cream
(Vermicelles is a Swiss chestnut “noodle” dessert. Switzerland is also known for their chocolate, and the vanilla is for their snowy mountains)
•Katsuki fam: Neapolitan ice cream sandwich
(Neapolitan for the triplets - then I added the rest of Yuri’s fam)
•Plisetsky fam: Shaved ice
(because of all the snow in Russia - sorry I couldn’t think of anything better)
•Kenjiro: Taiyaki and strawberry pocky, cute ice cream
(Cuter Japanese desserts because he’s younger and sweeter - but also a taiyaki because he looks up to Yuri!)

Yuri’s Hatching ^w^

In this AU Siren eggs have to be kept VERY warm and live coals are used in the nest o3o
“Ohhh, bit of movement. I think it may be time. Been shaking for a couple days now.”
“He’s a little slow. Mari had come crashing out a week early.”
“That’s Mari for you though.” Toshiya stood up, cradling the egg which had been nestled in his lap. He set it down into a sunken hearth of hot coals. The egg trembled, rocking back and forth. Little clicks sounded from inside.
“Come on, baby bird, break through,” Hiroko encouraged, taking a seat next to her partner.
The shell, a gradient of black to red with silver spots and feathered markings, cracked. The line extended and bits of the shell shattered off, kicked out by little clawed feet. A minute of struggle, the small creature inside turned around, fingers stained black curling over the edge of broken shell as he peeked out.
Big brown eyes blinked up at Hiroko and Toshiya. Wide as they took in their first view.
Laughing, Hiroko stood and lifted him out, wrapping him in a handspun towel. She dried him with quick motions. It fluffed his puffy black feathers which sprouted from all over, cresting over his ears. Tiny wings stretched and flapped slowly from his back, and his arms reached up toward his parents as he cooed happily.
Hiroko and Toshiya smiled down at their baby siren, the mother bopping him on the nose with her fingertip. “Welcome to the world, Yuuri.”
