The Yuri!!! On Ice Movie is currently in development!
Both Kubo herself and Studio MAPPA announced today that the movie’s production is underway. Kubo is working very hard to deliver this movie to all the waiting fans. She asks for our patience, as she said it is going to take a while.
Sayo Yamamato and Mitsurou Kubo are currently writing the script for the Yuri!!! On Ice Movie
You can tell by their Twitter feed, which has shown the two of them hanging out more often than usual.
I finished my Yuri on Ice Cream print! All your favourite skaters on matching sweets. The menu, and my subsequent reasoning, is:
•Yuri: Taiyaki, red bean and green tea mochi ice cream
(Japanese sweets, slightly more traditional but modernized)
•Victor: Chocolate ice cream
(because Makacchin is a chocolate poodle ha)
•Yurio: Tiger tail ice cream
(this speaks for itself, but I added the choco straws because they were stripey too)
•Otabek: Plombir ice cream
(an ice cream found in Russia and Kazakhstan)
•JJ: Maple ice cream, topped with maple syrup and tire sur la neige
(because maple everything. There’s even maple leaf sprinkles! Tire sur la neige is maple sap poured on snow)
•Seung Gil: Red bean bingsu
(Binsu/bingsoo/patbingsu is Korean shaved ice)
•Emil: Trdelnik ice cream
(trdelnik is Czech chimney cake/doughnut type pastry that some places put ice cream in)
•Michele: Pistachio, vanilla, and strawberry gelato
(Gelato of course, but also in the colours of the Italian flag)
•Guang Hong: Mango shaved ice and condensed milk
(Baobing is a shaved ice dessert popular in China, Taiwan, and Malaysia)
•Leo: Frozen yogurt topped with sprinkles
(Frozen Yogurt being invented in the US)
•Phichit: Thai friend ice cream rolls
(Thai fried Ice cream rolls
•Georgi: Sea salt and salted caramel ice cream
(He is the saltiest man)
•Cristophe: Vermicelles on Chocolate and Vanilla ice cream
(Vermicelles is a Swiss chestnut “noodle” dessert. Switzerland is also known for their chocolate, and the vanilla is for their snowy mountains)
•Katsuki fam: Neapolitan ice cream sandwich
(Neapolitan for the triplets - then I added the rest of Yuri’s fam)
•Plisetsky fam: Shaved ice
(because of all the snow in Russia - sorry I couldn’t think of anything better)
•Kenjiro: Taiyaki and strawberry pocky, cute ice cream
(Cuter Japanese desserts because he’s younger and sweeter - but also a taiyaki because he looks up to Yuri!)

Okay, so when it comes to the Yuri on Ice!!! costume discourse, everyone turns to Seung-Gil Lee first.
Which is fairly understandable. The man looks like the lovechild of a parrot and a feather duster with an ambition to become a male stripper.
But at least the costume vaguely reflected the mood of his program (even if his face didn’t). My main costume grievance is with Otabek Altin’s short program costume. As a former classical ballet dancer, and as in the case of every classical ballet dancer I know who saw this costume, I immediately thought of the ballet La Fille Mal Gardee. I mean, look at this:

That’s not necessarily terrible though, La Fille Mal Gardee has an aesthetic… Mind you, whoever designed this boy’s costume has some questionable color and style choices but the overall aesthetic could work. I’m just fairly sure the La Fille farm-youngsters-frolicking-through-the-fields aesthetic wasn’t what his choreographer and he were going for. I mean, it’s Otabek, who seems like the kind of guy always going for drama and strength in his programs. His nickname is literally the “Hero of Kazakhstan.”
To give you an idea of the aesthetic and mood of this ballet, have a few more pictures:
I call this one “The Horse Part.” Also some other names that probably shouldn’t be used in front of your ballet master.
The “Mama” is a humorous, dramatic, flamboyant character, often played by a man. She really doesn’t want her daughter marrying the horse impersonator dude.
And last but not least, the characters everyone in ballet probably think of first when they hear this ballet mentioned. The iconic, the notorious, the extraordinary, the unmistakable…
…chickens.
And yes, this is a real, serious, historic ballet.
So yeah, I’m not sure this is what Otabek Altin, Hero of Kazakhstan is trying to convey.
tldr: Please get this boy a wardrobe upgrade. He looks like a character from a classical ballet about a farm, which, among other things, involves men in full chicken costumes, on-stage mother daughter spanking, and the lead girl hitching the lead guy up with ribbons and prancing him around the stage like a horse.
(On a side note, Seung-Gil’s costume would not look out of place in this ballet.)

Today’s haul from #YoiConPH2017!
Stickers are my kryptonite so most of my purchases are stickies. I bought 2 sticker sets and individual ones, mostly of Seunggil, JJ, Yurio, Yuuri, and Victor from @plupip@misupoteto and other awesome artists (I was stupid, I forgot to ask their names and tumblr handles!!!)
I also bought official merch from @thesunnyprojectph and @fascinathingsph, a Yurio keychain and a Seunggil rubber clip (gonna use this one to clip my OT forms together, lmao).
But my favorite!!!!! purchases were the Seunggil Yuri!!! On Tour keychain from @minatu who was gracious enough to fly from Indonesia to sell her merch here as well as give everyone signed flyers of her gorgeous Yuuri art; and the signed Eros prints of @jsminas who was so nice and accommodating to all his fans! I even got to take a selfie with him! (*´♡`*)
All in all, I think I got an awesome haul. I just wish I could’ve bought more official merch but they were so expensive. (´Д` )
It was my first con after so long so I was really shocked by the immense number of attendees. I wish I got to take more photos but I was too busy trying to survive the hoard of people, which is really hard since I’m slightly agoraphobic and claustrophobic. Will try to blog my experience by this week!

I absolutely loved it when you didn’t want your fans to cheer you, because you thought you didn’t deserve it. That you could give more than that. That your fans deserved more than that.
Also you didn’t want to have a spot in the podium because of good luck, that’s not JJstyle. You wanted to win it. So you believed in you and jumped the quad loop. And you made it. YOU DESERVED that medal.
You always, ALWAYS do your best, because that’s what you want for yourself, and for your beloved ones. You even entered UoT as top student. Seriously? How do you split your time???
Yeah sometimes he’s too…ehhh…JJ. But he’s 19 yo, he’s got plenty of time to learn.
I wish him all the best. Too bad he doesn’t exist because I’d be a really big fan of him
