if capitalism didn’t exist what would your dream job be. btw if you say something like ‘engineer’ i’ll kill you

Writer. Artist. Artisan of 100 different crafts.

I’m curious… why is “engineer” not a dream-worthy job?  I mean, engineers get to dream up some cool shit and build amazing things like aqueducts and pyramids that last millennia.  They see a problem and find a great way to fix it that’s (usually) safe and (often) inventive.  Being an engineer is like being an artist with a mathematical soul.  They figure out the best ways to fly without feathers, go fast with less effort, cross massive ravines with bridges, bring water to dry areas, build higher than is reasonable.  They figured out how to get us into space and built telescopes that let us see unimaginable wonders outside our own little solar system.

If you forbid people to be venture capitalist or stock brokers, I’d be in line to punch a bitch.  But engineers?  Na, you got some misdirected anger at one of the most interesting natural callings.  Because make no mistake, being an engineer is an innate talent just like being an artist or athlete.  Sure, others can study to become one - and those who study hard may actually be good at it.  But a person who was born an engineer has that special spark to their soul that marks them as someone who will make a difference in the world because they are driven to find solutions to problems and leave the world better for it.

Because engineer is a well paid job that almost always gets work under capitalism? What kinda dumbass question is this

Which means it can’t be people’s dream job, how? Also, capitalism also renders a vast number of people who want to be engineers unable to become engineers because they can’t pay the college fees.

Oh my god dude the post was clearly meant to be asking people whos dream job is something unstable or which doesnt pay well. Thats why op excluded engineers as an example for a well paying stable job. Ofc it can be your dreamjob dumbass i never said it couldnt

That’s not what OP or you said. OP did not say “if your dream job is unstable”. Besides, engineering IS a difficult job to get under capitalism since the necessary qualifications are expensive and because a lot of the jobs rely on the military-industrial complex. ALL jobs are unstable under capitalism.

Dozens of posts on this site saying that people will want to work even if the financial incentive is removed and suddenly it’s capitalist to want to work an essential job without any special benefits.
