Abanindranath Tagore was the principal artist and creator of “Indian Society of Oriental Art”. He was also the first major exponent of Swadeshi values in Indian art, thereby founding the influential Bengal school of art, which led to the development of modern Indian painting.
At the heart of Rodel Tapaya’s work is his ongoing amalgamation of folk narrative and contemporary reality within the framework of memory and history. Utilizing a range of media — from large acrylic on canvasses to an exploration of under-glass painting, traditional crafts, diorama, and drawing — Tapaya filters his observations of the world through folktales and pre-colonial historical research, creating whimsical montages of his characters.
Djanira da Motta e Silva was a Brazilian painter, illustrator and engraver, known by her first name Djanira. She was known for her naïve art paintings, depicting Brazilian common people, religious themes and landscapes.

Keiko Minami was a Japanese artist, aquatint engraver, and poet… In the late 1950s, Minami’s works were reproduced and sold as greeting cards by both the Museum of Modern Art and UNICEF. In 1959 she was named as an official artist of the United Nations.
