Moved into an apartment with a friend of mine and my boyfriends parents gave me this old desk to keep! Haven’t had my own desk for about 2 years and I’m so excited for all the research and letters and poetry that will take place here ❤️ {mine}
july 18th, 2019 | tried a new study method that i saw in a youtube video (ch: oh no nina, highly recommend!) which is writing down song lyrics and then underlining all the new words. good way to expand your vocabulary!
my-sins-might-be-your-tragedies:
Pretty convenient that a lot of American students never learn that Einstein was a Jew who came to America and started the nuclear research after fleeing from the Nazis and having most of his research lost in the book burnings.
Or how much of his life and work was shaped by his autism, like how it was his biggest asset because it allowed him to think differently, but also his biggest hurtle because of all the abuse he received in school from teachers who labeled him as a dunce and told him he was stupid because of his disability. Which he proved wrong by discovering the theory of relativity because of his autism instead of in spite of it.
EVEN THOUGH THOSE ARE THE TWO MOST RELEVANT DETAILS OF HIS LIFE THAT EXPLAIN HOW AND WHY HE DID ALMOST EVERYTHING HE DID. But nah, Im sure diversity wasn’t relevant enough to be important in this situation.
Its almost like we have a biased school system that censors the accomplishments of marginalized groups to stop them from realizing that people like them have accomplished things.
He taught at Lincoln University after he was told black students couldn’t attend his lectures at other colleges and universities.
- Article quote: “In 1946, Einstein, the Nobel Prize-winning physicist traveled to Lincoln University where he gave a speech in which he called racism “a disease of white people,” and added, “I do not intend to be quiet about it.” Lincoln was the first school in the United States to grant college degrees to blacks.”
Remembering someone who cared about education
I’m British, but I didn’t know about this either
I feel so stupid everytime I see a post like this because it opens my eyes to something I could have taken the initiative to research in high school. Then I remember school didn’t give me any reason to or tell me it was even a possibility that Einstein was anything other than white; because of course not. And then I get angry at the American school system.

09/02/2021 The snow is so peaceful so I’ve moved all of my desk bits to face the window. I had a crazy busy day yesterday but hopefully that makes today easier. I’m missing my boyfriend a lot today, we had the best snow days when we weren’t long distance. X Emily
Winter Studying Challenge
21st January - Stay warm or go outside in the cold?
Definitely go outside! It’s so refreshing but the best thing if all is coming back indoors. Today I’m working on an essay due Monday.
26.5.19 I did my first exam! I didn’t say straight away because I was feeling a bit funny about it, but now I’m revising for my second and last ever exam of uni! Also who knows groovy chick?? My mum got me these amazing groovy chick socks. X Emily
It’s so important to keep study notes that might be useful in the future! Reblogging this because the notes I was making here, are the same notes I’m using for my current postgraduate essay.
