varric: and then hawke told me to lockpick a chest with a complex lock and I said “you want me to do what? I don’t think so.”
cassandra: ………. why are you telling me this
You know that scene where Varric is like ‘it’s been an honour knowing you’ to Hawke in the hanged man? Do you think its another fabrication? A small moment that Varric wished had happened because he never actually said it and now Hawke is gone and yes, he knows where they are but who knows when they’ll next see each other. And so he creates this moment, this scene, its been an honour knowing you because it he’d known that they were running out of time, if he’d known the world was about to fall down around them, if he’d known his Kirkwall days were ending, that’d what he’d have said. That’s what he’d have let hawke know.
Do you hear it sing?
I feel like the first time Hawke told Varric, out loud, that he loved him it took him a little by surprise.
Varric Tethras is such a crazy and fun character cause it’s like. Imagine getting recruited into a special Catholic Church paramilitary demon fighting, apocalypse-stopping task force and celebrated novelist Neil Gaiman with a crossbow is there as part of your squad.
