(….)I think he may even be younger than that as i know he joined up to get out of Hull and away from his stepdad which he never liked. I’ve always been curious of this image of him; a young man at the beginning of world war 2. The innocence in those eyes that were lost after the war finished. I have hundreds of his original love letters he sent my mum during those years from 1942 to 1945. Absolutely priceless , a window into the passionate thoughts and feelings of a young man who became my dad.(…) “
