an AU inspired by this ask and ESPECIALLY these wonderfully whumpy asks!! in this AU, Jim learns Kane is being held captive by the hunters after Kane has only been there for a few weeks instead of five years. Kane is starving, tortured, scared, but not broken. have a series of little drabbles from this timeline.

This was the absolute rock bottom of Kane de Sang’s life.
With the hunter gone, he was alone with his human. Cuffed and muzzled, burnt and cut and bruised all over, half-naked, starving to the point of powerlessness. He was completely at the mercy of his own human. And the worst part was, he was terrified.
Imagining a whumpee who finds their whumper unconscious/injured/dying and as much as they want to leave them to die (if not finish the job themselves), they have to reluctantly become a caretaker because they know that even with whumper gone, they still wouldn’t be able to escape and would just succumb to starvation eventually. They’re reliant on them for survival, if whumper dies then they die too.

it sounds overly complicated but trust me. its fantastic. its not just the “caretaker, whumpee, whumper” dynamic but made more ~ d r a m a t i c ~ its a whole other thing because now these people have history with each other. the whumperee has hurt the former whumpee (FW) but has now been hurt to the level they hurt FW or worse and FW understands that pain and empathizes with it, even if they hold resentment or fear or anger toward whumperee. caretaker, however, hasnt experienced the pain themselves and only knows the trauma it caused their beloved FW and has seen how it damaged them, has been the one to hold them, to soothe their nightmares and bandage their wounds. caretaker hates whumperee with a burning passion for what theyve done to FW and they can’t stand seeing whumperee act so pitiful because how dare they. its all that resentment and bitterness not tempered with a shared experience of intimately knowing that same pain and its glorious and destructive.

I think most find the fae to be the most dangerous forces of magic in this world. However, Sources, I believe, are equally as dangerous, if not more so. While some are safe like the shifting of the tectonic plates, others are extremely dangerous like flame. There’s always the chance of losing focus and having your Source backfire on you. If such a thing were to occur, to regain the confidence and focus is an arduous task. Thus, I always recommend meditating to younger alchemists so that they do not lose control over their Sources.

Silvanus awoke to a world tinted by pain. Before words could even leave his mouth, he was moaning from the pain radiating from his left arm. It was so bad that within a minute, he was out of breath from trying to deal with the overwhelming sensations coming from every bone in his body.
OH THIS IS SOOOOO GOOD. this is my fave chapter thus far and that’s SAYING something. i adore this series more than i can express.
