Wikipediasays:

Guan Zilan, also known as Violet Kwan, was a Chinese avant-garde painter. She was one of the first artists to introduce Fauvism to China, and was known for applying Western painting style to Chinese traditional subjects. Her most famous work is Portrait of Miss L. (1929). Although an art world favorite during the late 1920s and the 1930s, she stopped painting after the onset of the Cultural Revolution and became mostly forgotten in Communist China.

April is #SAAM. We use this time to raise awareness about sexual violence.

My new piece “Carrie and the Cow Tongue” was commissioned by Heather Ross as commemoration of a friend who stood up for her and so many other survivors of sexual assault and violence. Visit my Facebook to find the original post of the piece to read Heather’s amazing story.

For the months of April and May 2019, I am selling both my Carrie pieces online and donating a portion of the sales to the Canadian Women’s Foundation in Carrie’s name.

Please consider sharing this post, telling your friends and loved ones about it, and asking them to tell their friends about it. These special editions will only be available for April and May, so if you want to complete your Carrie collection, this is the time to do so. Every purchase both helps support my art and sends money to an incredibly vital foundation that helps women and girls that need more people like Carrie in their lives.

The Canadian Women’s Foundation is Canada’s public foundation for women and girls. They work to empower more women and girls to move themselves out of violence, out of poverty, and into confidence and leadership. The Foundation embraces an inclusive definition of “women” and “girls” that includes people who identify as women, girls, trans, genderqueer, and gender non-binary.
