Very happy that my book on Fytiotiko weaving is finally out! . It covers traditional weave layouts, names and origins of woven elements (ploumia) as well as Fytiotika trading history, among others. Weave drafts and diagrams can also be found in the appendices. . Here is a piece (1st photo) by Mrs Georgia Theodorou (47*139cm) with some complex tassel work at the lower end.
On Saturday the 3rd of April, a morning of warp making will take place at the workshop. Students from the most recent traditional weaving lessons are invited to watch this physical and laborious -but rewarding- process. There are various mechanised methods which can speed up the aforementioned undertaking significantly, but I like to use traditional techniques the most.
