Drama Journal #3

Before I start this review/journal, I want to say that I went through the same frustration that most of you probably felt during this entire show.  After I got past the frustration, I realized how great of a show Proposal Daisakusen really is.  So with that said, I want to talk about some of the best features that Proposal Daisakusen had throughout the course of the 11+ episodes (including the special).

Proposal Daisakusen is a story about Iwase Ken and his journey back in time to change the outcome of his freindship/relationship with Yoshida Rei.  Iwase Ken is played by Yamashita Tomohisa (YamaP) and Yoshida Rei is played by Nagasawa Masami, who are both stars in the acting industry in Japan.  The show also featured the likes of Eikura Nana, Fujiki Naohito, Hamada Gaku, and Hiraoka Yuta.  Its safe to say that the cast is pretty stacked, maybe not compared to some other shows, but I still believe that it is.

Anyways, I’m going to jump into what I really liked about the show now!  In my opinion, the greatest feature of this show was the development that was seen in every single episode.  Yes, I understand that Iwase Ken can end the story at episode 1 by simply confessing his love to Rei, but that’s not the point!  The point is that there is development in each character episode after episode.  Whether it be a big jump or a small step toward a changed future, there is constant development and change through the actions that Ken takes by jumping to the past.  Sometimes these changes are obvious, but other times they are slight changes that are barely noticeable (look out for them if you’re going to watch it).  The journey that Ken and Rei take together from grade school to adulthood is one that is worth watching and is something that we should all aspire for.  I don’t want to spoil anything else for anyone else, but all I can say is that I truly 100% recommend this show to everyone.

5-JI KARA 9-JI MADE

EPISODE 10 (FINAL EPISODE)

For the last episode of 5-ji kara 9-ji made, we could see that even though Takane was “forced” to break up with Junko at the last scenes of previous episodes and early scenes of this episode, somehow, they still ended up with each other at the end.

It was a team effort. I would have to say that every character  in this drama had to do something to bring Takane and Junko back again and to convince Takane’s grandmother that Junko is indeed, the one for Takane.

I love how all the ELA employees exerted effort to bring Takane and Junko back again. Then there’s Junko’s family especially her Dad who I thought, might be angry to Takane but still tried to understand the two. There was the chief priest who respects Takane’s hardship and was a way for the Grandmother to see JUnko’s letter to Takane. There was Amane who by the sideline, pitied Junko and Takane’s situation. Kaori who ended up “breaking up” with Takane and letting him go. But I think, the one that exerted the greatest effort here is Junko.

The scenes where Junko hugged Takane in the museum as if she’s begging him to be back with her again, and the words she said when they were outside the museum, I think, that was really brave for her character.Adding up in the mixture is her letter to Takane as if she’s opening her heart to him letting him know of her feelings. While watching, I thought, well, it is time for Junko to does this things becaue these are the things that Takane did in the almost entire episodes of the drama, that is, to openly rely his feelings to her and she reciprocated those in the last episode. Such beautiful scenes.

The last scenes of the drama really touched and made me cry though. Takane’s words are overwhelming that as an audience, I can really feel what Junko is feeling. His honesty and his words saying, he can’t ever forget anything about her, melt my heart like I think, how Junko’s heart melted and it was so powerful that made the whole scene so beautiful.

The kissed! It was magical. It was all worth the wait. And I would have to say that Yamapi and Satomi got a little too excited to that. Well, he carried him so I guess it was also overwhelming to them.

The last scene where Junko still has to go New York reminds me of RIch Man, Poo Woman ending. I am happy that she has to go because that means an open story for a sequel or special of a drama. What will happen then? Or have they already registered their marriage ecause in that last scene, it seems like they are in a rush and the family stamp is still gone missing.

Well, anyway, I would just have to say that in conclusion, this drama is drop dead beautiful. THe journey I had in weeks of waiting for updates with english subtitles was all worth it. I would want a sequel or a special. A sequel would be better though. Wouldn’t it be fun if Takane would be gone in an accident and lose his memories of Junko and she would have to remind him of her? Well, that’s just my imagination. HAHA. Still hope the best for Yamapi and Satomi. Hope they could be a team again either on screen or offscreen? HAHA. BUt wishing the best in their career. Of the drama and more dramas like this again please!

Junko’s words to Takane

Hoshikawa-san. Do you remember when you pick me up in your car on my birthday? That made me really happy. And the time you gave me those shoes as a present for failing my exam. Though after that, honestly we had that understanding. Ah, on Halloween, you told me that I was cute. That made me happy too. I couldn’t tell you this until now, but You were really cute too that time you caught a cold. Sorry about the amusement park. Ah! for conducting my Grandma’s memorial service with so much care. Thank you so much it made me really happy. I’m sorry your birthday cake was so small. And I thought your taste in couple sets was kind of weird. But I really loved that you that looked so happy. I really did.Honestly, thank you for everything. Goodbye!

Jsuki; Kame to Yamapi’s “Senakagoshi no Chance”

This single was from quite a while ago~ a lot of fans were really excited for the return of this duo, which haven’t been singing together ever since their one-off unit for the drama, “Nobuta wo Produce” period. Once again, Kame and Yamapi returns to collaborate for a drama and single.

I don’t think either “Senakagoshi no Chance” or the drama “Boku, Unmei no Hito desu” was as impactful as the “Seishun Amigo” and “Nobuta wo Produce” time. (I tried watching the drama but it was a bit too slow for me, and I dropped it like 5 episodes in… I made it halfway though!) Although I must say, the PV was really cute and I enjoyed it a lot! It just shows Kame and Yamapi battling it out doing different things (from chopping onions to arm wrestling to painting). The photobook pamphlets were also really nice!

You may purchase this single HERE. Only the RE is available.
