So this was posted on my main, here goes nothing…

I saw a post that spoke of the said “problem” Yandere, mainly in the fanfictions, but without delving more deeply into the author @sweetarto. The author then comments on their post to apologize for Their opinion towards the Yandere “genre” authors and fans. Their article explained that They did not criminalize the perpetrators of horror Yandere. Still, they did it to protect former victims or misguided readers who would rub shoulders with something that would make them uncomfortable in the peak of their curiosity.
Yandere is a fashion that swells with the popularization of Asia in the West. Still, it is the anime Shuffle and School Days that start the popularity, making it grow to a worldwide extension and the Korean Manhwa Killing Stalking, in 2016. The Manhwa’s popularity increases in 2017 due to its violent themes like manipulation, psychological and physical abuse, and the general violence portrayed in the Manhwa.
I have no problem with what other people want to write and read. If I do not like it, I do not read. What bothers me is the rising popularity of the term Yandere and the use given to it and the depicted toxic personality that is then taken as an example of a protective relationship in some cases. The romanticism of the mental illness is given to a person. I quote here @sweetarto on their text Why Yandere isn’t okay: “[…] it can give people the wrong impressions of these artists in real life- people start to think that’s what these people are like.” Recall that the author had to publicly apologize for having his opinion because some people thought They blamed the authors for the “gender” Yandere. On the said blog, I could also observe justifications given anonymously. The “gender” Yandere is indeed part of the horror, so it would not be a genre but a subgenre in itself. We will call the Yandere by its actual name from this point.
It is also true that in order not to see anything on Tumblr in any case, we can mark it as undesirable in the “tags.” However, this is not the case with any reading site. I think mainly about Wattpad, Quotev, and Fanfiction.net. Also, we find on Tumblr the tool “read more” that an author can add to his post not to give young people who may not be interested in the position tagged Yandere the pain of having to scroll for half an hour not to read the said post. Of course, what works well is the good old manual warnings at the beginning of the post to warn the reader of what he might find in the center. Because the problem is not the warnings left by the authors, but those who do not leave any. So I want to cover my back before having several hateful messages about it. I have no problem scrolling posts that do not interest me. Unfortunately, when I’m not warned of anything and that the writing interests me initially, that doesn’t mean that I would like to know that the character I’m reading about is completely disturbed in what you write.
The Yandere is an aggressor, and for curious and suggestible young readers, who may not understand what the word means in a foreign language, it might not be obvious. This is perhaps not the best representation of a couple that could be given. I don’t think of fanfictions and anime while writing this and our American Yandere model in the series “You,” which has had massive popularity in France for its suspense. But it is only an apology for the mental illness and male toxicity exhibited by the main character, to present him as a victim.
In a sense, the horror allows those who read or listen to feel the cathartic effect that it gives them. “If horror is the essence of things, culture and language would then be there to contain the horror, in all senses of the word, they refrain but also keep in reserve and feed, so to speak, they would have a cathartic function. ”- La représentation de l'horreur. The subgenre Yandere becomes a fantasy that some people have but are not ready to live, although I do not advise anyone to be ready to be captured and sequestered or even tortured for or by “love.”
So, Yandere is a sub-genre of horror. Still, the fact remains that this sub-genre is an apology for violence in a relationship, and therefore the toxic representation of obsessive love. Many young readers and viewers fetishists of centric relations is essential to be faithful in a relationship unless you agree with the people in your relationship. You are thus making it into BDSM fetishes between two consenting people, hopefully, adults. Still, it is not enough to see only one person for the rest of your days. A healthy relationship included outings, friends, visiting relatives, family, sharing memories. So I think that rather than condemn a sub-genre of horror that seems to please the public a lot. It would be necessary to inform said public about what he reads, what it implies and perhaps resolve to less visibility with warnings and tools like the “read more” offered by Tumblr.
Please, be aware of your entourage and sensibility, put the appropriate tags, and understand that not everybody can read such things.

You have never seen him like this, maybe it’s the moonlight, or the lighting, maybe you’re getting too caught up on the atmosphere, but tonight he looks ethereal. His dark eye glimmers under the dim light that enters through the window of your shared room. His skin, tan and rough is pressed against yours. Your breath hitches, and he presses a hand over your mouth to shut you up. He always does this, tries not to hurt you but you always end up being so noisy over nothing. He can feel his heartbeat fasten and his breath gets irregular. And for the first time, you both smile, swallowing harshly, you link both of your hands together as he starts moving inside you. His smirk is small, barely noticeable, so calm and perfect. He looks so pretty. You want to kiss him, but you’re too shy to ask him. Instead you only stare into his eye. Your moans and gasps are soft, so that the others will not be disturbed by the noise. He groans in your ear, lowering his head so that his hot breath tickles your neck just enough to make you shiver a bit.

Tetsutetsu has such a particular way of hugging you. He relies a lot on his brute force, and his way of giving affection is well… brute force. No matter where you are or who you are with, he’ll always have his way with you. It’s a pattern, he sees you, screams (loudly) your name so he won’t startle you with the sudden attack of affection. And then he runs towards you, picks you up in his arms and lifts you up. Spins you around if he’s particularly happy.
At first, you found yourself weirded out or annoyed by it, since well, you didn’t really know him and you felt like he was overstepping a boundary.
