It was far too easy to flirt with Tetsurō, the banter just seemed to flow between you two. Even in a room that wasn’t your own and with paranoia lingering constantly in the back of your mind, it was so easy to get lost in him.
It was way too early to be up and texting, but the last thing you wanted to do was end the conversation where it was. It was new and felt like a breath of fresh air.
Except for when he managed to steal your breath away and replace it with butterflies, which tended to happen more often than not.
From cheesy pick up lines to genuinely sweet comments, he was easily sweeping you off your feet and you couldn’t find it in yourself to resist his magnetic pull. He felt… safe.
When a text came through saying ‘can I call you?’ you were quickly, almost embarrassingly so, scrambling to grab your earbuds before calling him yourself.
“Well, that was quicker than I expected, kitten~ excited to talk to me?” His quiet voice echoed in your ear, causing your cheeks to warm up at his perception. “Okay, and what if I was?” You smirked.
Tetsurō’s chuckle sounded unbothered, much to your chagrin, but you weren’t overly surprised by it. “Oh? So, what would you say if I was just… five minutes away. Hypothetically, of course?”
You blinked, not expecting such a seemingly non-hypothetical question. “You’re not… you’re at my house. Aren’t you.” It wasn’t so much a question as a statement and you could practically hear his smug smirk over the phone before he laughed.
“Maybe~ I heard there was a fox park nearby and thought it might be fun to get you out of the house! If you’re up to it, of course! We don’t have to, we could just text-“
You sniffled a bit, too touched to be embarrassed. “You really drove five hours at the ass crack of dawn to take me to a park?”
He clicked his tongue and you could just imagine him wagging his finger. “Not just a park! A foxpark, and really, I don’t mind driving across all of Japan to see you, morning or night.”
After changing, packing a small bag, and giving Hajime a quick rundown of your plans (he wasn’t thrilled about being woken up, but he was happy that you were happy) you stepped out of the door, beyond excited to see Tetsurō.
The second you opened his car door, his wide grin was greeting you. “Good morning, (Y/N/N), thanks for joining me so spontaneously.”
You scoffed, beaming, as you squeezed his hand. “I should be thanking youforevenplanning all of this! I mean seriously, thank you so much, Tetsu.”
He started the car, a lopsided grin on his face. “You can’t thank me yet, you haven’t even heard the whole plan yet!”
Your eyes widened, yet again surprised by his dedication to today’s upcoming activities. “What else could there be?” You questioned, fiddling with his aux cord.
“Well,Zaō Fox Village is about two hours away and opens at nine, and since it’s only about 6:30, I figured we’d stop for breakfast! There’s a fancy little joint about an hour away, what do you say?”
He hardly needed a response past your ecstatic expression, but you still couldn’t help but voice agreement. His laugh, as crazy as it was, was quickly becoming a sound you never wanted to stop hearing.
And luckily for you, he found what you’d said particularly hilarious. As he drove off, beginning your adventure, you realized that you felt completely at ease. Your playlist drifting through the car, the beautiful sunset, and Tetsu’s company… it was all things you wanted to experience as often as possible.
“So how was it? Scale of one to ten?” You glanced over at Tetsurō, a permanent smile adorning your face. “The food? Ten. Foxes? Ten. The company? Mmm… I’d say… a hundred.”
The ravenette laughed, but you could see the pink tint lightly coloring his cheeks. “Well, I’m glad I could cheer you up. Now, I have one more surprise for you. Close your eyes, yeah?”
A confused smile spread across your face, but you obeyed, nonetheless. “What is-“ Before you could finish your sentence, warm lips were covering yours.
