A woman on live Russian national television carried out a poster against the war and propaganda, here’s the clip:

She chanted “stop the war, no to the war”, and the poster reads: “stop the war, don’t believe the propaganda, they’re lying to you here”

Her name is Marina Ovsyannikova, an editor at Channel One. The channel itself said she’s a stranger. She is already at the police station. Here’s her pre-recorded message (in Russian)

English translation:

“I am ashamed for this, for letting others tell lies from TV screens, for letting them zombify Russian people. We kept silent in 2014 when all this began. We didn’t go out and protest when Navalny got poisoned by the Kremlin. We simply watched this anti-human regime without saying a word. And now the whole world turned their back on us, and ten generations of our descendants won’t be able to wash away the shame of this fratricidal war. We are Russian people, thinking, smart, we are the only ones who can stop this madness. Go out and protest, don’t be afraid. They can’t arrest all of us.”

There’s an update on the case: after several lawers were unable to locate her during the night (the police withheld the information on where she was), Marina Ovsayannikova has been found in a Moscow court. She has been fined for 30000 rubles (~280 USD as of now) for advocating for unauthorized demonstrations, and she is still being investigated further

I believe that we will have a peaceful future, despite all the sacrifices and adversity we will live freely and peacefully

It breaks my heart that my homeland has been attacked by russians leaders, that there is a war going on, people are dying and cities are being destroyed, I do not have enough words to convey all my pain and despair

Thank you to all the defenders of Ukraine, you are real heroes, please stay strong

⚠️I also take part in a charity event:

You can donate to support Ukraine, send me proof and I’ll draw something of your wish⚠️

It’s irrational, but spring feels so unfair during the war. We’re still in February, the war feels endless, everyone is so used to it now all the horrors are a constant muted stream of headlines, messages and calls. All the beautiful blossom looks unreal, fake, because all you can see is smoke, fire, ash and blood.

Spring in the City of Mary. Save Mariupol

Yulia Tveritina keeps a “War Diary”, in which she shows the everyday life of ordinary people during the war.

When the Siren’s calling. An Ukrainian siren, another creature from the bestiary of war. A personification of the air raid sirens that bellow over Ukraine for two horrible months. My autistic brain fixated on a word ‘siren’ and went brrrrr

Never in my life when I dreamed of living in a book I would’ve imagined I will be living in Orwell, Kafka, Hasek, Remarque and Rodari at once. With a hint of King and Strugatskys. The sheer absurdity of our life in this “world that moved on” has me thinking that all my derealization experience was readying me for surviving here.

I’m torn between hysterical laughter and the urge go bash my head against the wall every single day, just from reading (banned) headlines and meeting other people. Everything is so ridiculous and horrible at the same time I’m glad I’m already neurodivergent, otherwise I would’ve ended up in a psycho-neurological hospital again.

We’re heroically fighting fascists, but there’s no war. Actually the mere world “war” will get you arrested. All the war crimes are fake of course. And performed by Ukrainians and NATO with mannequins and actors. And didn’t happen at all. And were heroically prevented by our heroic army. All at once. The world “peace” is also prohibited. So is quoting Tolstoy (not a joke, people were detained for holding his books and banners with his quotes). Everywhere every day people get arrested, sometimes tortured, police is breaking into homes whenever they want, all the independent media are banned, but the junta is in Kyiv of course, our great country is the last bastion of democracy in the world full of liars.

The scariest thing is the amount of those who believe in this. Who gleefully denounces their own children, friends, colleagues, even random strangers to the police. Who cheers for killing Ukrainian people because ‘they always were bastards and should be wiped out". Who look at my green ribbon with so much hatred, it’s palpable. Who assault us for “stop the war” signs, who writes “traitor” on the doors. Who grimace disdainfully at my mom’s surname on her cabinet’s nameplate (we have Ukrainian surname, and I wish it was a joke, but no).

I don’t know what to do. I’m just an artist, autistic and broke as fuck, with no sources, no social contacts. But I want to do more, to help more, I just need some instructions. My friends from Kyiv said I have a good insight and analysis of the situation (she’s a historian), an she suggested writing down some of it, to lay it out for better understanding and for finding some ideas, so I’ll try. I need to pour it out anyway. So, if you want to ask something about the perspective from Mordor, here I am.

My friends are used to air raid sirens now. Used for the sky, eternal endless sky, not being safe anymore. The fire and the greedy beast’s wrath can fall from above at any moment. I’m bad at clear imagery, I can only make up tales. The personification of my Ukrainian friends’ experience. They’re facing the dragons, I live in the dragon’s wasteland. The tale I wished to never tell

“Peaceful sky”, huh. Please close the sky over Ukraine.

What did these soldiers come here for? If they’re for peace, why is there war? We’re in What did these soldiers come here for? If they’re for peace, why is there war? We’re in

What did these soldiers come here for? If they’re for peace, why is there war? We’re innocently standing by, watching people lose their lives… It seems as if we have no voice, it’s time for us to make a choice! They’ve gotta hear it from us: we’ve already had enough!
