Wildfire (1986). Even Saturday morning cartoon, Hanna-Barbera, and 80s animation devotees sometimes overlook this one. It was a series about a princess from a fairytale dimension who, for her own protection, was sent to the old west where she becomes a cowgirl. Eventually, her amulet started to glow and a magic talking horse who is basically a superhero, Wildfire, brought her back to her own dimension. Wildfire also talked, and his speaking voice was rather like that of the folk musician Donovan.

LikeBlackstaror Goldie Gold and Action Jack, this is one of those shows that is better remembered in Europe than its country of origin.

“Paw Paws” was an American Indian-themed bear cartoon from Hanna Barbera that ran from 1985-1986, with characters like Princess Paw Paw, Brave Paw, and Dark Paw. The show was accompanied by plushes and small figures:

Though Paw Paws aired on Boomerang, they are one of the least referenced Hanna Barbera series and is unlikely to be revived, possibly because it’s a cash-in on the merch surrounding the Ewoks, and so could only have been made in the years after Return of the Jedi.

Wading deep into nostalgia lately and figured I’d lay some colors on this Diana piece I did a couple years ago as I think back to when I painted a broom handle green - with watercolors - so I could hang out in the back yard doing handsprings and cartwheels while kickin’ some Venger ass.

Getting the stick to grow was a bit of challenge but between Diana and Cheetara I could spin that mufu like a mufu.

We’ve had two Japan-exclusive costumes already, so it’s time to give Bowser Week a “western rep” with King Koopa as he appeared in The Super Mario Bros. Super Show! Only one more costume left to share tomorrow. Have you guessed it?

Full-Res version available here. You’re welcome to use these “Smash Alternates” in your own non-commercial works, as long as you follow the usage rules in the description on this deviantart page: HERE

I had to model the head in Blender from scratch for this one, so here’s the concept art I made to assist that.

Here’s the process gif. Chronologically, this was the last alternate I made for this series. I’ve been posting them this week somewhat out of order from how I made them. The order I made them was as follows: Wedding, Dry, Tomorrow’s one, SM64, SMB3, Makeover, then this.
