Tumblr is deleting all porn and porn-related content.
Years ago, when I first came to tumblr, it surprised me what a rich, beautiful and kinky community tumblr had. Gay, straight, bi, subs, doms, sissy’s and ofcourse the hotwifes, cucks, stags and vixens. This was a place where you could explore your sexual fantasies, to connect with people that had the same fantasies - to not feel like an outcast because you like something that might be frowned upon in society. It was here where I discovered my wife-sharing fantasies and started exploring from there. I met great people, and I discovered I wasn’t alone with my crazy fantasies. I felt at home.
A couple of years later when I met my beautiful girlfriend we started out acting out our fantasies, and I started making captions. At first I didn’t think anyone would want to see them, but I enjoyed making them so I continued making them. Now, over 87 thousand followers later, I realise just how huge this community is, and I just can’t fathom why Tumblr is turning down so many people. And I’m rather pissed about it.
For years, tumblr had a dark side. A very nasty, sickening dark side: Child porn, and child nudity on tumblr. For years, tumblr failed to stop the ongoing filth. Accounts were banned, but new blogs were simply created and the shit continued.
And then, last month, Apple tossed out the Tumblr app out of their app-store on all iOS devices because of this - and it was only then tumblr reacted. It was only then Tumblr cared enough to actually do something serious about this. And now they’re tossing out adult content completely.
They’re saying they want a better tumblr, for more people to enjoy? It’s a slap in the face to anyone that enjoys adult entertainment, for content creators and for people that like to explore their sexuality. It is killing so much freedom what brought so many people together in the first place. Censorship is killing the internet and the freedom of speech, and Tumblr is already one foot in the grave.
I want to thank all of my wonderful followers. I met so many fantastic people. Kinky, crazy, and above all, just people. Ordinary people that came here to share a fantasy. It’s been a blast guys ‘n girls. Thank you for all of your support, your personal stories, and for enjoying the stuff you like without fear of prejudice. Don’t let society tell you what you should like. Be you.

…but this page will lose lots of it’s luster, already has obviously. Nothing is being deleted and if you are flagged or worried about it, do not be, no one is losing their blogs no one is having anything deleted. What is yours will stay yours (Tumblr has made that clear) but it will be hidden from the view of the public and there is nothing we can do about it. I do not believe that striking or boycotting will fix this, by only removing what Tumblr has stated is unwanted and shareable, they also are quietly stating they want to be more profitable & more open to a wide audience, being that the world is filled with a majority of those who see pornography (what we see as art) and are disturbed by it, they must conform to make money. I won’t conform this page, the followers here didn’t follow us for the lack of adult content and female presenting nipples…

I am really saddened to say that this is a DNF for me. This review will contain slight spoilers so please proceed with caution.
I honestly could only take about 150 pages of the book before I had to call it a day and move on.
The Ninth House is a story of Galaxy ‘Alex’ Stern, who can see ghosts and gets rescued from a life of drugs in LA and initiated into a secret society called Lethe who are basically like overseers of all magic done by secret societies at Yale University. The story jumps from Alex’s view to Arlington’s (her mentor) view to flashbacks of her growing up and her life in LA. First and foremost - nothing new, there are plenty of books about people seeing ghosts and secret societies at Ivy League universities. The first hundred pages are complete info dump with so much information that I had a hard time keeping it straight in my head. Actually nothing much happened in the first 100 pages except you get to read a lot about history of the magic societies and there’s a murder squeezed into them. You also do get a lot of scorn and disgust about how rich and privileged the kids who go to Yale are.
As if the info dump wasn’t enough to take you out of the story, Alex is also an ex-drug addict who is completely cured. It’s just not believable, not one craving, not one stray thought - nothing. I did not get far enough to find out how she gets miraculously cured, if it’s even ever addressed, but if it’s magic it’s just soooooo convenient and just makes it even more unbelievable. However, even this I can look past, but what I absolutely cannot look past is child rape.
That’s right - Alex gets raped by a ghost when she is in junior high. Rape used as a cannon in any book is bad, but child rape…it just begs the question - why? Yes she said that her book is suppose to be disturbing and shocking and I guess if that’s her main goal then she has succeeded. I just don’t understand what it’s suppose to prove. There are plenty of adult novels out there that write about adult themes without using child rape in them. It feels like Leigh fell into the same trap as J.K. Rowling with her “Casual Vacancy” - both wrote about insanely disturbing topics just for the sake of proving that they can. It doesn’t make for an enjoyable read or good literature and I do not think that it’s done in the hope for raising awareness of child rape and abuse - I think it’s just pure shock. Or was it done to make the reader like Alex? Because up to that point I didn’t, and now am I suppose to like her b/c I feel sorry for her? All that scene made me feel was disgust and confusion.
The one thing I did like about the book is the magic and the rituals - they were really well thought out and very interesting. I give Leigh props for that but we already know she’s great with magic.
Some people will not like me for saying the things I said about the novel or the author and listen - there is a book out there for everyone. This particular book was just not for me and if you like it - great. I think anyone who liked The Casual Vacancy or The Last Magician series will like this series as well.

This, this is the kind of things people are dealing with in the wake of Tumblr’s new rules. It’s not about a “better” experience for the users. Tumblr has ignored bots and problems for years. It’s not even about porn or nudity. It’s about a blanket algorithm flagging any and all things (robots, rooms, food, words, anything, etc.) in order to control content to help advertisers (and the like) to feel “safe” giving $money$ to Tumblr.
Like other sites, they allowed users to make and share content to grow the site and now that they are big enough they want to cater to the cash not the user.
So users, all users, will have to jump through more hoops to share their content to reach a shrinking audience. My pics above are now on “review”. I had to find the flagged images (that have been up for months, maybe a year or more), I had to ask for a review of the image, I have to wait and see what happens next.
This new policy is not about “adult content”, that’s just a way to frame it to make it sound like a reasonable thing to the people with cash Tumblr is trying to make happy. It’s a blanket algorithm for everyone posting here. It’s all content, it’s control, it’s cash.
But you don’t have to take my word for it. Look around, see what’s being flagged, see the impact it’s already having. Food blogs, people taking about chronic pain issues, LGBTQ sites, art sites etc.
I’m curious to see how it plays out but I’ve yet to see a site use an “algorithm” in a way that ever benefited the users. Somehow it always benefits the advertisers. Weird that way huh.

Cleared 2/3 of my blog after it was all flagged as adult content. One image was deemed too filthy for visual consumption though, a 19th century picture of a man with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. Betcha’ you were all jackin’ it to that.

Since its founding in 2007, Tumblr has always been a place for wide open, creative self-expression at the heart of community and culture. To borrow from our founder David Karp, we’re proud to have inspired a generation of artists, writers, creators, curators, and crusaders to redefine our culture and to help empower individuality.
Over the past several months, and inspired by our storied past, we’ve given serious thought to who we want to be to our community moving forward and have been hard at work laying the foundation for a better Tumblr. We’ve realized that in order to continue to fulfill our promise and place in culture, especially as it evolves, we must change. Some of that change began with fostering more constructive dialogue among our community members. Today, we’re taking another step by no longer allowing adult content, including explicit sexual content and nudity (with some exceptions).
Let’s first be unequivocal about something that should not be confused with today’s policy change: posting anything that is harmful to minors, including child pornography, is abhorrent and has no place in our community. We’ve always had and always will have a zero tolerance policy for this type of content. To this end, we continuously invest in the enforcement of this policy, including industry-standard machine monitoring, a growing team of human moderators, and user tools that make it easy to report abuse. We also closely partner with the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children and the Internet Watch Foundation, two invaluable organizations at the forefront of protecting our children from abuse, and through these partnerships we report violations of this policy to law enforcement authorities. We can never prevent all bad actors from attempting to abuse our platform, but we make it our highest priority to keep the community as safe as possible.
So what is changing?
Posts that contain adult content will no longer be allowed on Tumblr, and we’ve updated our Community Guidelines to reflect this policy change. We recognize Tumblr is also a place to speak freely about topics like art, sex positivity, your relationships, your sexuality, and your personal journey. We want to make sure that we continue to foster this type of diversity of expression in the community, so our new policy strives to strike a balance.
Why are we doing this?
It is our continued, humble aspiration that Tumblr be a safe place for creative expression, self-discovery, and a deep sense of community. As Tumblr continues to grow and evolve, and our understanding of our impact on our world becomes clearer, we have a responsibility to consider that impact across different age groups, demographics, cultures, and mindsets. We spent considerable time weighing the pros and cons of expression in the community that includes adult content. In doing so, it became clear that without this content we have the opportunity to create a place where more people feel comfortable expressing themselves.
Bottom line: There are no shortage of sites on the internet that feature adult content. We will leave it to them and focus our efforts on creating the most welcoming environment possible for our community.
So what’s next?
Starting December 17, 2018, we will begin enforcing this new policy. Community members with content that is no longer permitted on Tumblr will get a heads up from us in advance and steps they can take to appeal or preserve their content outside the community if they so choose. All changes won’t happen overnight as something of this complexity takes time.
Another thing, filtering this type of content versus say, a political protest with nudity or the statue of David, is not simple at scale. We’re relying on automated tools to identify adult content and humans to help train and keep our systems in check. We know there will be mistakes, but we’ve done our best to create and enforce a policy that acknowledges the breadth of expression we see in the community.
Most importantly, we’re going to be as transparent as possible with you about the decisions we’re making and resources available to you, including more detailed information, product enhancements, and more content moderators to interface directly with the community and content.
Like you, we love Tumblr and what it’s come to mean for millions of people around the world. Our actions are out of love and hope for our community. We won’t always get this right, especially in the beginning, but we are determined to make your experience a positive one.
Well, looks like this blog will be gone soon, due to Tumblr’s new rule. I know I haven’t talked to my followers much - have I done it at all? - sorry about that. But hi! This is a weird time to do this, I know, but if I made a new account somewhere else for this kind of content, would anyone follow it? I’m thinking about moving this stuff elsewhere. Let me know!
