my nephew traded me an alpha pichu and i cant wait for it to become a jumbo raichu! alpha pokemon are soooo funny
Somehow, I got the third. I’m still recovering from the shock.
Totem Pokemon are just
Alolan Alpha Pokemon
Think about it- a large pokemon that oversees an area, and gets a burst in power not seen in others of the species.
Possibly Hisuian Alpha Pokemon were brought to Alola, or it was a divergent evolution scenario. Perhaps having a few larger, stronger specimens to control an area was advantageous, and these traits were passed down the generations of Pokemon. And the Alolan people began to revere their “Totem” pokemon, like how they do in Hisui with their “Lords and Ladies”
This would explain how the player in USUM is able to get their own Totem Pokemon. And why Totem pokemon can change when new trial captains are chosen, matching the new trial types. And how Totems can be replaced if the previous one is lost.
Gosh I put too much thought into this theory but

These were my first 2 from one massive mass outbreak!
From a regular outbreak.
First static spawn shiny alpha.
Second static spawn found right as a massive mass outbreak was ending.
Another static spawn while in a massive mass outbreak.
Was just flying around checking static alpha spawns and this was just chilling right next to the alpha Goodra in the Highlands.
Got this one in a massive mass outbreak.
Same with this one.
And finally, another static in the middle of a massive mass outbreak.
10 shiny alphas so far! Can’t wait to find some more!

Went to a Grotle outbreak in a MMO and this guy was just chilling there with them.
And then…

And then this guy showed up in an MMO when “the horde has reformed”. Not alpha, but I’ll take it.

Almost failed this one. Stupid terrain screwing up my wing ball throw… luckily I followed up well.
Heard the sparkle on this one around a whole group of Mantykes. Took me a while to figure out which one was the shiny.
Had to reset for this sucker. Ran away during a MMO. Thankfully I’d saved beforehand.
Petilil almost ran too, but a sticky glob stopped it in its tracks.
SHINY ALPHA PILOSWINE!
I just barely heard the sparkle sound for this big girl. The MMO had just ended and Braviary dropped me off on the ground at the same time the sparkle sound went off. I heard enough to warrant looking around, and I wasn’t disappointed! This makes shiny alpha number 5!

I GOT 2 OF THEM! Fought 4 alphas at once for the first one, then the second one spawned in right after I caught the first one! RIP my poor team, but I caught them both!
