a random, foreign, blue haired kid who’s dazed out and aloof most of the time and has never even stepped on a skateboardan amateur! shows up and does everything reki’s been practicing so hard for perfectly, and grabs the attention of all the other skaters including the cherry blossom, AND beats shadow and all reki does is tackle him and sparkle around him
this idiot doesn’t show an ounce of spite and envy even though a classmate of his just beat him at something he considers himself great at. a kid his age who couldn’t even stand on a skateboard a day ago and needed to duct tape his feet for the race shows him up at something that brings him joy and reki is happy for him. he’s amazed by him. he doesn’t feel inferior, he doesn’t even feel jealous like any other person would- he continues to cheer for langa and helps him get better (without the duct tape).
he doesn’t show envy or spite bc he doesn’t have any. watching the first episode, and then the second, i realized that reki’s so pure and kind-hearted that i found it baffling.
when langa confessed that he was uncomfortable skating with straps and was scared, instead of telling him to suck it up, reki designed and made a board for him.
he taught langa how to skateboard properly when he could have left him alone to his own devices, with no clue how to even stand on a board, but he didn’t. he was there the whole time. reki showed him everything there is about skateboarding.
when langa learned how to ollie in two weeks while it took him two months, i expected reki to feel bad or just a bit jealous but all he did was sparkle again he even got langa a job at the place he works because he needed the money. he boasted about langa to manager oka. i, for one, would have thrown a fit and cried.
reki is the most beautiful soul there is. he’s so pure i cry. i love their friendship so much and i can’t wait for the next episode to come out it’s killing me
i’m praying that something doesn’t happen between these two because i w i l l cry if they even look at each other wrong
