Sitting on the edge of his bed, all you want to do is collapse backward and fall asleep. He wined and dined you to the point you don’t know how much longer you can stand to stay in the tight skirt you’re wearing, so you suck it up and lean over to at least begin undoing the straps on your heels to get those off.

“I can feel you staring at me,” you huff teasingly, feeling his presence in the doorway.

Keeping your head down, you just catch a glimpse of his feet as he makes his way toward you and kneels in front of you.

“What if I wanted you to keep the heels on,” he smirks, gently pushing your hands away so he can take them off for you.

The Florist next-door… Andy Barber x reader series Part 4

<Part 3<

Warnings: 18+ readers only, swearing, angry!Andy, bitch!Laurie

A couple of hours later Andy opened his front door and loosened his tie. He wasn’t looking forward to the conversation he was about to have.

“Why did, Y/N, get out of your car?” Laurie asked as she appeared in the doorway.

Andy chewed the inside of his cheek as he looked at her. “Something happened at her store.”

“And why does that concern you?” She asked coldly.

“Leonard Patz, showed up there, buying flowers for his friend, Ben.” Andy explained. “Then, someone slashed her tyres and to top it off, that guy that’s been stalking us, is now also following her.” He glared at her. “That’s why it concerns me, Laurie.”

Laurie looked at him worried, gulping before she cleared her throat. “Do you know who, slashed her tyres?” She asked.

Andy’s brow creased as he shook his head. “The police are looking in to it, but they’re worried about her safety now so, she’s staying here tonight.” Andy turned his back and walked into hi office putting his brief case down on his desk.

“Excuse me?” Laurie followed. “I don’t think she is.”

Andy huffed, “And why not, Laurie? The police are worried that someone could be trying to hurt her.”

Laurie rolled her eyes. “Always playing the victim, isn’t she.” She folded her arms across her chest. “Why would anyone want to hurt her?”

Andy shrugged. “I don’t know. But why would, Leonard Patz, go to her store? Why is that guy watching her all day? Why would someone slash her tyres? I don’t, know! But they have and someone did, and the police are worried about her… I’m, worried about her.”

“What’s going on?” Jacob asked as he stepped off the bottom step. “Why are you shouting?”

“Nothing, honey, your father and I, were just having a discussion.” Laurie turned to smile at Jacob.

Jacob frowned and looked at Andy, “Dad? Who are you worried about?”

Andy drew in a deep breath as he looked at his son, debating whether he should tell him or not. He didn’t need to look at Laurie to know she was glaring at him, hoping he’d keep his mouth shut. But Andy couldn’t not tell Jacob, you were Jacob’s friend just as much as his. “How would you feel about, Y/N, spending the night?”

“Andy.” Laurie snapped at him. “You are not involving him in this, he’s just a child.”

Andy ignored her. “Would you be bothered?”

Jacob shook his head. “No, but why would she need to?” Jacob shrugged.

“The police are worried about her safety. Someone slashed her tyres whilst she was at work today.” Andy explained briefly not wanting to fully explain to his son what had gone on.

“What? Why would someone do that?” Jacob asked.

Andy shrugged, “I’m not sure, but the police have reason to believe she’s not safe on her own and asked if she could stay here whilst they watch her place.”

“Oh,” Jacob went quiet. “Is it because of me?”

“No.” Laurie placed her hand on his shoulder. “You have nothing to worry about, okay?” She glared at Andy.

“Do you think it’s because of me, dad? Because she’s on my side?” Jacob asked Andy.

Andy took a deep breath, “It could be, Jacob, I’m not gonna lie.”

“Andy!” Laurie snapped at him.

“It’s okay, mom.” Jacob shook her hand off. “I want, Y/N, to be safe, so she should be here. After everything she’s done for us, we should look out for her.”

Andy smiled proudly at his son. “That’s very kind and grown up of you, Jacob, I’m proud of you.” Andy placed his hand on his shoulder.

Laurie huffed, “For heaven’s sake, so you’re going to put our family at risk instead.”

Andy frowned at Laurie. “What are you talking about?”

“You said she wasn’t safe, so being here means we won’t be safe.” Laurie glared at him. “I don’t want her here.”

“Laurie, I wouldn’t put us at risk but, Y/N, is all on her own.” Andy sighed, “She’s our friend, Laurie.”

“NO!” Laurie snapped. “She’s your friend, Andy, not mine.”

Andy’s eyes widened as he looked at an equally shocked Jacob.

“Pack a bag, Jacob.” Laurie pushed him towards the bottom of the stairs.

“What? Why?” He frowned at her.

“We’re not staying here tonight if your father insists on choosing her the safety of this family.” Laurie sent Andy a cold look.

Andy closed his eyes as he let out a frustrated sigh. “I am not, choosing her over you! She’s not safe on her own, Laurie, why can’t you understand that?”

“I don’t want go, mom. Dad’s, right.” Jacob stood on the bottom step.

“Now, Jacob!” Laurie shouted at him.

Jacob glared at her before looking at Andy with a pleading look.

Andy shook his head as he glared at Laurie. “Go on son, do as your mother says.”

Jacob huffed and ran off upstairs as Andy and Laurie glared at each other in silence until they heard Jacob’s door slam shut.

“I thought you were a good person, Laurie, I really did, but right now, I’ve never been more ashamed of you.” Andy turned his back to her and walked over to his desk.

“Right now, I don’t really care what you think.” She spat at him before slamming the door shut.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
As you sat on the edge of your bed with your overnight bag packed by your feet, you finally took a minute to yourself.
You weren’t sure how to feel. You felt guilty, for letting yourself be so stupid and fall in love with a married man. But then again, you knew Andy wasn’t happy anymore, not with Laurie and you were pretty sure Laurie felt the same, only she wouldn’t admit it. Then there’s the whole Leonard Patz thing, your tyres being slashed and the guy that had been watching you. You hadn’t felt this scared to be alone since your ex-husband was in the picture.
You were thankful for when Andy offered you to stay the night in his guest room, because then you wouldn’t be on your own. But were you really about to do this? Spend a night under the same roof with a man you’ve found yourself falling in love with and have kissed twice, his wife who hates your guts and their son.
There was no doubt about it, you were a horrible human being.
You quickly squashed all your feelings down and grabbed your things before heading over to Andy’s house before you could talk yourself out if going. As you walked up to Andy’s front door you couldn’t shake the feeling you were being watched, so you looked over your shoulder and there he was. You froze as you and the man stared at each other. How was he not fazed by being spotted?
“Jacob, lets go!” Laurie shouted as she pulled the front door open. She glared at you, only stopping momentarily before barging past you and over to her car without a word to you.
You frowned as you looked back at Jaocb as he walked out of the front door with a bag. “Hey.” You smiled.
“Hey,” He returned your smile. “You okay? Dad, told me about your tyres.”
You looked at Andy behind him and nodded. “Yeah, I’m cool.”
“M'sorry.” Jacob frowned as he looked down. “It’s all my fault.”
“No, Jacob, you have nothing to be sorry for.” You reached out and patted his shoulder.
“If it wasn’t for me, you wouldn’t be in this mess.” He shook his head. “So, I’m sorry.”
You smiled warmly at him, “You’re a good kid, Jacob, I hope you know that.”
“Jacob, let’s go!” Laurie shouted through the rolled down window. “Now.”
Jacob huffed and said goodbye to you and Andy before walking over to Laurie’s car.
“Where they off to?” You asked Andy as you entered the house with him.
Andy let out a heavy breath, “A hotel. Laurie, needed space.” He frowned, looking at you. “And don’t start blaming yourself, Y/N.” He said before you could open your mouth. “This is a, Laurie, problem, not yours.”
You nodded keeping your mouth shut as you looked down to the two bags in your hands. “Oh, I bought over some groceries I had that I was gonna make dinner with, I thought I could cook as a thank you.” You smiled at him.
Andy smiled excitedly as he took them from you. “That sounds, amazing.” His belly grumbled at the prospect of something other than takeout. “But you didn’t need to do that.”
You shrugged, “It’s the least I can do…” You smiled, your cheeks beginning to blush. “Hmm, do you mind if I shower? Kinda want to wash away today, if you know what I mean.”
Andy nodded, “Sure. I’ll take you up and show you where you can put your things.” He placed the groceries down before leading you upstairs. Andy cleared his throat as he pushed open a door. “This is the guest room,” He looked back at you and nodded over to another door. “That’s Jacob’s, the bathroom is there and that’s… Where I sleep.” He paused as he looked at the room he shared with Laurie. He quickly cleared his throat, “There’s towels in that cupboard and, there should be some things in there for you to use.” He gave you a warm smile before closing the door.
You let out a deep breath as you dropped onto the end of the bed. What were you doing?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Andy sat in his office, silently brooding as he watched the CCTV footage from the building next to your store. The police officer whom was working the case had sent it to him. The footage showed the person that had slashed your tyres, clear as day and he was beyond pissed off.

“Hey,” You appeared in the doorway with a smile. “Hungry?” You asked.

Andy nodded with a smile, liking the feeling he got when he saw you fresh out of the shower in his home, “Starving.” He stood up and closed his laptop. “I’m gonna shower real quick but I’ll be back down shortly and I’ll give you a hand.” He quickly ran upstairs before you could answer.

He walked into his bedroom and shut the door as he pulled his cell out and dialled Laurie’s number. He began to pace back and forth as it dialled, getting more and more angrier as he waited.

“What do you want, Andy?” Laurie asked coldly.

“Where’s, Jacob?”

“Playing his game in the other room.” She answered.

“Good, I want to talk to you.” Andy gritted his teeth.

“We’re not coming home, Andy.”

“I don’t want you to come home.” Andy snapped at her. “Not after what you’ve done.”

“Excuse me?”

“Don’t pretend you don’t know what I’m talking about, Laurie.” Andy balled his fist up as he began Gan to pace back and fourth again.

“I don’t know what you’re talking about, Andy. I’ve done nothing.”

“DON’T LIE TO ME!” Andy shouted. “I know what you did to, Y/N’s, car. There’s CCTV footage of you, Laurie. I know it was you.”

Laurie was silent for a moment before she let out a frustrated sigh. “… I can explain.”

“What were you thinking?” Andy asked.

“I wasn’t, okay. My head is all over the place and–”

“Don’t give me that, Laurie. You knew what you were doing. You were thinking about yourself.” Andy spat.

“How dare you say that? I was thinking about us–”

“NO!” Andy shouted. “You were thinking about yourself, because if you weren’t, you wouldn’t have done this.”

“You can’t say that, Andy!”

“I can, because I know for a fact, you weren’t thinking about, Jacob. Do have any idea how bad this is going to reflect on him?” Andy stood in the middle of the room defeated.

“What do you mean? You can make this go away, Andy.”

Andy let out a dry chuckle, “How am I supposed to do that? The police are involved.”

“You can talk to, Y/N, for me. She’s your friend. She’ll listen to you. Please. Tell her about it looking bad on, Jacob.” Laurie pleaded.

Anger boiled up inside Andy again. “You should apologise to her, Laurie.”

She huffed, “I am not, apologising to her.”

Andy ground his teeth. “Why not?”

“Because it’s her fault, okay. She deserved it.” Laurie snapped.

“How? She’s done nothing wrong. She’s been nothing but a loyal and caring friend to, Jacob and me. Hell, she’s even been all those things and more towards you, even when you’ve been nothing but a spiteful bitch towards her.” Andy spat.

Laurie gasped, “Andy, can’t you see she’s trying to steal you away from me.”

“No, Laurie, I’m sorry but I’ve had enough of it. I don’t know why you’ve had it out for, Y/N, from the moment you met her, but it stops now.”

“Andy,”

“NO. I don’t want to hear your excuses, okay? I’m done. Goodbye.” He hung and flicked his cell onto silence before throwing it onto the bed. He then let out a heavy sigh as he dropped his head into his hands.

The Florist next-door… Andy Barber x reader series Part 3

<Part 2<

You decided space was exactly what you were going to give your neighbors after thatnight.

You made sure to leave the house way before they did. You ignored Andy’s texts, hell, you even kept your living room curtains drawn because you couldn’t face looking over. It was killing you. You’d kissed another woman’s husband. A man you couldn’t keep out of your head, who you’d somehow become so dependent on without realising it, you were actually starting to feel lost not seeing him. He was your friend, but that kiss woke something from deep inside you that made you crave more.

“How would you like to pay?” You asked the man that had just ordered some flowers.

“Credit card, please.” He smiled at you.

You tried not dwell on the fact he was giving you major creepy vibes as you took his card. “No problem, I’ll just -” You drew in a deep breath as you read his name. That need to have Andy close to you came surging back as you tried to keep calm. “Hmm, there… You go.” You handed his card back. “I’ll just put these together for you.” You smiled politely as you collected the flowers the man had chosen from the counter and headed into the back.

You let the door close behind you as you pulled your cell out and for the first time in almost a week, you dialed Andy’s number. As you waited for him to pick up you quickly put the man’s flowers together, not caring if it looked terrible, you wanted the guy out.

“Miss me?” Andy asked playfully.

You took a shaky breath, “Leonard Patz, is in my shop!” You whispered.

“What?”

“Leonard Patz, is buying flowers from me.” You glanced out of the small window, checking he was still there. He was, just waiting patiently where you’d left him.

“Okay, stay calm. I’m on my way. Has he said anything to you?”

“No. He said he’s buying flowers for a friend called, Ben.” You frowned.

“Okay, Y/N, listen to me. Act normal, take him his flowers, smile, bid him a good day and just stay in the shop. I’ll be there as quick as I can, sweetheart, okay?”

“Okay, don’t worry, I’m not gonna follow the creep, bye.” You quickly hung up and took a deep breath.

You picked up the bunch of flowers and opened the door, stepping out into the front of your shop with warm smile, or so you hoped, and handed the flowers to man in front of you.

“There we go, sir. Hope they’re what you wanted.”

Leonard nodded, “Perfect. Thank you.” He smiled at you. “I’ll most certainly be coming back. Goodbye.”

You nodded, “You too, thank you.” You smiled, giving a small wave as he opened the door and left.

As soon as he walked by, you took in a deep breath and practically fell to the floor. You weren’t sure why but tears started falling and you felt so disgusting being near that man. His eyes, they were just full of evil, and as you knelt on the floor crying, you knew it had to have been him.

The door flew open a little later, startling you, “Y/N?” Andy called out. “Sweetheart?”

You let out a relieved sigh, “Here.” You sniffled.

Andy walked around the counter and dropped to his knees as he cupped your face. “Are you hurt? Did he hurt you?”

You shook your head. “No, I’m fine… I, he…” You drew in a shaky breath. “He, he said, they were for his friend, Ben.” You quickly covered your mouth as a small sob escaped.

Andy wrapped his arms around you and pressed a kiss to the top of your head. “It’s okay. I’m here.” He closed his eyes as you cried into his chest. “I’m here.” He whispered. “I need to check that he’s gone, okay? So stay here, yeah?” He asked as he once again cupped your face in his large hands.

You nodded and quickly brush your tears away. “Okay.”

Andy took a deep breath before he leaned in and gave you a short but firm kiss, then stood up and made his way out of your shop. He knew by now Leonard was probably gone and the chances that he knew who you were, were probably slim. But Andy had to make sure you were safe.

His blood ran cold as his eyes met Leonard’s as he stood some distance away down the street. The sick son of a bitch was waiting for Andy, like he knew he’d show up and began to smirk as Andy spotted him.

Andy took a step forwards but something in his peripheral vision stopped him. He looked back at you as you busied yourself tidying things away, and decided Leonard wasn’t that important right now, you were. Without a second glance, Andy made his way back inside to you.

Your eyes widened with panic as you looked at him. “Was he there?”

Andy shook his head. “Looks like he’s gone.” He wrapped his arms around you and closed his eyes as you hugged him, burying your face in his chest. “You’re safe, sweetheart.” He reassured you as he held you in his arms. “C'mon, you should get home.”

You nodded agreeing with him. The two of you quickly gathered your things and then locked the shop up before walking round to where you had parked your car in the alley. But when you got there the thought of getting home and having a nice relaxing bath was quickly vanishing.

“Do you think he did it?” You asked Andy as he assessed your four flat tyres.

Andy shrugged with a frown as he poked at one of the tyres. “Could be, but someone definitely did this on purpose. Looks like all four were slashed.” Andy let out a frustrated sigh as he stood up and walked towards you.

You chewed on your bottom lip nervously as you looked over your shoulder. “There’s something I need to tell you.”

Andy’s brow furrowed, “What do you mean?”

You gulped as you looked over your shoulder again. “There’s been this black car parked outside my shop all day. I’ve noticed it a few times out side my house. I thought maybe it was a cop at first but then–” You drew a deep breath. “I thought it might be something to do with my ex-husband… It’s freaking me out.”

Andy sighed as he wrapped his arms around you. “Don’t worry, okay, we’ll figure this out.”

The Florist next-door… Andy Barber x reader series Part 2/?

<Part 1</>Part 3>

“Just a second!” You called out to the person that had just entered your shop as you finished the task you were doing in the back. You quickly walked out to the front and stopped in your tracks. “Andy?”

He looked up at you and gave you a tired smile as he held up a bag of takeout. “Lunch?”

You nodded, “Come through.” You smiled at him.

He bobbed his head and flipped the close sign over in the door window before flicking the lock into place as if it was muscle memory.

“I got your favorite.” Andy smiled at you as he sat at your work bench beside you.

You smiled excitedly as your stomach began to grumble as you inhaled the delicious smell. “Life saver.”

The two of you began to eat in silence. You hadn’t realised how hungry you actually were until you started eating but as  you stole a glance at Andy every now and then, you could tell something was wrong by the way he was playing with his food.

“What’s wrong?” You asked him, gently placing your hand on his arm. “And don’t say it’s nothing, Andy.”

He looked at you with worry swimming in his eyes as he gulped. “I need to tell you something, but I’m afraid it might make you think differently about me.” His brow furrowed as he looked down at his good. “You might never want to see me again.” He looked up to meet your gaze.

“I don’t understand.” You said.

Andy took a deep breath. “Because of what’s happening with, Jacob, I’ve decided to share something with, Laurie… That’s from my past,” He shook his head. “Before, Laurie and I, even knew each other…”

“Andy, what are you talking about?” You asked as you turned to face him.

“My father, is a convicted rapest and murderer.” He said, refusing to look at you.

Your mouth hung open in shock. That was certainly not what you had expected him to say. “… Whoa.”

Andy let out puff of air through his nostrils as he nodded. “Yeah.”

“I- hmm, why are you telling me this, Andy?” You asked confused.

Andy took a deep breath. “After what happened with your ex, I thought you deserved to know what you were living next door to… The media and the police are gonna be digging into our past and… I wanted to be the one to tell you.” He gave you a soft look.

You nodded and sat quietly as Andy began to tell you about his father. You found it hard to believe that this sweet and caring man in front of you had such a monster as a father.

“Laurie, thinks I betrayed her, by keeping this to myself.” Andy’s head laid in his hands.

Your brow furrowed. “She does?”

He nodded. “Apparently, because I’ve kept this from her for all these years, she’s not sure whether she can ever trust a word I ever said to her.” He let out a dry chuckle, “Like, our whole life together, is just one big fat lie.”

Your mouth hung open again. “Oh.”

“She blamed me, for what’s happening with, Jacob.” He huffed. He looked up at you with a frown. “What do you think? Am I in the wrong? Should I have told her?”

You let out a soft sigh, “I understand why, Laurie, might feel slightly betrayed by you. You guys are married and you shouldn’t have secrets.” Andy groaned as he looked away from you. “But, honestly… I think she’s the one in the wrong.”

Andy’s head shot up, “What?”

“Andy, just because your father, did those horrible things, does not make you the same person. You’re kind and caring, and you certainly love your family. Laurie, should be able to understand why you kept it a secret. I don’t go around telling every guy I go on date with my ex-husband used to beat me.” You frowned.

Andy looked at you with a soft look before he nodded. “Thank you, Y/N.”

You shrugged, “It’s fine… Have, you spoken to, Jacob, about this?”

Andy shook his head, “Not yet.”

You cringed, “Good luck.”

Andy chuckled, “Yeah… That’s gonna go great.”

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“What the-” You pulled up in your driveway before hoping out of the car and started to make your way over the Barber’s driveway where Andy was. “Oh, shit,” You muttered as you saw the graffiti that had been painted onto the side of their house. “Hey,” You whispered as you came to a stop behind him.
Andy looked over his shoulder at you, his face a mixture of anger and hurt. “Hey.” He let out a defeated sigh.
You looked at the horrible words before looking back at Andy. “Need a hand?”
He gulped and shook his head. “No, thank you.”
You frowned, “I don’t mind–”
“I said no!” He snapped.
You took a step back and nodded. “Sorry,”
“Y/N, wait.” Andy got up and stopped you as you began to leave. “I… I’m sorry, okay, I just-” He looked up at your neighbors and shook his head. “The last thing I want, is for you to be tarred with the same brush as us, right now.”
You nodded, “Understood.” You offered him a weak smile before quickly walking away from him, missing the way he looked after you.
After enjoying a relaxing bath you set to work making yourself dinner but as you moved around the kitchen you looked up through kitchen window of Andy and Laurie’s house, and noticed it was pitch black. Andy was still outside cleaning so you assumed Laurie would have been making dinner.
You pulled your cell out your pocket and sent Jacob a text.
You: Have you guys eaten yet?
Jacob: No. Mom’s asleep and dad’s outside. Think we’ll get take out
You: I’m making my dinner now. I’ll make extra and bring it to the back door
Jacob: Awesome. I love your cooking
You smiled to yourself and got on making dinner. You know Andy refused your help earlier but making food was different, it was neighbourly. Once you had dinner made you tubbed enough up for Andy, Laurie and Jacob, and took it over to the house.
“Thanks, Y/N.” Jacob smiled at you as he took the tubs of food out of your hands.
You nodded, “No worries. I best get back or mine will be cold.” You chuckled and quickly bid Jaocb goodbye.
Jacob dived into your cooking, moaning in delight at the flavorsome food. He really did enjoy your cooking, especially those chocolate cookies you make.
“Did your mom cook?” Andy asked as he stepped into the kitchen confused.
Jacob shook his head. “Y/N, brought food over.” He smiled at his dad.
Andy frowned, “She didn’t pass me.”
Jacob shook his head. “She came to the back door. She sent me a text asking if we’d eaten cause she was making food.”
Andy nodded and made a plate up for himself. “Has your mom eaten?”
Jacob sighed, “I told her, Y/N, had dropped some food off for us but she just ignored me. Wouldn’t even open the door.” He frowned looking down at his food. “Can I eat upstairs?”
Andy frowned as he looked over at the dining table where they would usually eat family dinner but right now his home didn’t really feel like it had a family living in it. “Sure buddy.”
Jacob thanked Andy before gathering his things and ran upstairs leaving Andy to sit alone in the kitchen as he ate. He couldn’t shake the feeling he’d been an ass to you earlier, so once he ate, he washed everything up and decided to return your tubs straight away so he can apologise for being such an ass to you.
He knocked on your back door and waited, and eventually you opened the door. You were only wearing sweats with your hair pulled up in a messy bun, but Andy found himself smiling at you in adoration, you’d never looked more beautiful.
“Andy?” You whispered, pulling him out of his thoughts.
He cleared his throat and held the tubs up. “Thank you, for dinner… And, I’m sorry.” He smiled softly at you.
You nodded taking a deep breath as you stepped to the side. “Wine?”
He nodded, “Please.” He followed you in, shutting the door behind himself before placing the tubs on the counter top as you grabbed him a wine glass.
The pair of you headed over to your living room where you’d been sat on the sofa, and sat down as you poured him a glass.
“You don’t need to apologize.” You said to him.
He nodded. “I do. I shouldn’t have snapped.”
You shook your head. “It’s fine, honestly.”
“No, it isn’t. I was frustrated with, Laurie, and I ended up taking it out on you.” He frowned before taking a large gulp of his wine. You sat silently waiting for him to continue. “… She’s doubting, Jacob’s, innocence.” He admitted. “She thinks because of my father, Jacob, could have actually done it.” He shook his head. “Why can’t she just believe that our son, is telling the truth?” Andy closed his eyes as tears began to fill them.
You shook your head, “I think, Laurie, just struggles to believe people when they tell her the truth.” You admitted without thinking.
“What?” Andy looked at you confused.
You shook your head. “I, uh, nothing, ignore what I said.” You grabbed your wine and downed what was left before refilling it.
“No, Y/N, tell me.” Andy nodded.
You closed your eyes and took a deep breath. “Before that night you came over, I… Asked, Laurie, for help.” You admitted.
You shook as you stood on the front doorstep of the Barber residence, waiting for an answer. “Oh, Laurie, hi.” You weren’t expecting Laurie to answer. “Is, Andy, home? I need to speak to him.”
Laurie frowned, “No, he’s away on business.” She went to close the door but you stopped her.
“Can, I talk to you then? Please?” You tried to offer her a smile but failed. You were too scared and hurt.
Laurie nodded, “If you’re quick. Jacob, needs piking up from his club soon.” She frowned.
You nodded and took a deep breath. “I’m not really sure, how to say this but… I, want to leave my husband. You see, we’re not, seeing eye to eye at the minute and I think, it would be best that we got a divorce. But, I’m not sure how to go about it…”
“For heaven’s sake, is that what this is about? Marriage is hard, you have to work at it. Stop playing the victim and grow up. Why don’t you try talking to your husband instead of mine.” Laurie glared at you before slamming the door shut.
Andy stared at you in disbelief. “When?” He asked.
“Hmm… Nine months, before that night you came round. The night before I asked, Laurie, for help, he tried to force me to-” You closed your eyes and took a deep breath. “I refused so he just, hit me… I, decided that morning as he went to work after pretending nothing had happened, I wanted out.” You let out a deep sigh. “I don’t know why, Laurie, acted like that, towards me but-”
“She’s jealous.” He frowned.
Your eyes widened in shock. “She’s what?”
Andy nodded and took a deep breath. “Remember that first time you and your ex-husband invited us round for dinner?” He asked.
“Y/N’s, so cool. She has this computer that she plays her games on that’s like something out of Star Trek.” Jacob beamed as he entered the front door. “And, her cookies are the best! Right, dad?”
Andy nodded. “They were the best, I admit.” He chucked as he and Laurie followed.
“Oh, is it okay if I help her with her yard work tomorrow, dad? I said I would if it was okay.” Jacob looked at Andy hopeful.
Andy raised his eyebrow, “You want to help in the yard?”
Jacob nodded, “Y/N, said since her husband was gonna be at work, she needed a big strong man to help so, I said I’d help.” He shrugged. “Can I?”
Andy nodded with a chuckle. “Sure buddy.”
“Great.” Jacob grinned. “Wonder if she’ll have more cookies.”
Andy chuckled as he watched his son run off upstairs to get ready for bed. “I think, someone might have a little crush on our new neighbor.” He smiled at Laurie.
She rolled her eyes. “I think, he’s not the only one.” She muttered.
Andy frowned, “What does that mean?”
“It means, I saw the way you were drooling over her, Andrew.” Laurie snapped.
Andy’s eyes widened, “Are you insane? Why would you say that?”
“Because I’m not stupid, Andy. She’s pretty and young, and niave… You love them like that, don’t you?” Laurie hissed at him as she sloppily poured herself another glass of wine. She was drunk.
Andy let out a deep sigh as he rested his hands on her hips. “You’re being ridiculous, Laurie, you’re my wife.”
She scoffed. “I saw the way you kept defending her, when her husband would disagree with her. He’s right, her cookies are fucking disgusting, they’re too sweet.” She snapped.
Andy rolled his eyes. “You’re jealous, that’s what this is about, isn’t it?”
“NO! This is about that little bitch trying to steal my family away. I don’t want her to hang around, Jacob.”
Andy opened his mouth to say something back when he heard something like a scream come from your house. “Did you hear that?” He asked, looking through the window to yours but the curtains were already drawn.
“It’s nothing, Andy, she’s probably just a screamer. They are married, after all.”
You sat in silence as each of your stories sank in.
“I did hear you scream that night, didn’t I?” Andy asked.
You nodded. “He said, it was your fault he was hitting me. He saw the way I was encouraging you, to look at me.” You rolled your eyes. “He used to do that, come up with bogus reasons to hurt me.”
Andy looked at you. He could still see the pain in your eyes as you spoke about what you went through. And now he felt even more guilt because of what Laurie had done or what she hasn’t done.
“I’m sorry.” You said in unison making you both smile.
“What are you sorry for?” You asked Andy.
He sighed, “For, Laurie, being so hostile towards you. You’ve been nothing but a friend and all she’s done is be so rude towards you.” He frowned. “I appreciate everything you’ve done for me and Jacob. I don’t think I’d have coped as much as I have if I didn’t have you on our side.” He gave you a warm smile.
You nodded, “Well, you were there for me so… What are friends for?” You shrugged, feeling your cheeks flush.
Andy nodded, “Why are you sorry?”
“It seems I’ve done nothing but cause problems for you.” You frowned, “Maybe, I should back off. I don’t want to be pestering, Laurie, if I make her uncomfortable.”
Andy shook his head before downing the rest of his wine. “Seriously, Y/N, you haven’t done anything wrong. I think… I think perhaps, Laurie, has finally realised that, our marriage, isn’t as perfect as she had been pretending. Everything that’s happened recently has just made it noticeable.” Andy admitted with a sigh. He looked down to his watch and frowned. “I should, get back home.” He stood up from the couch.
“Yeah, if cours.” You followed after him.
“Thank you, for the chat… And dinner, and wine.” He smiled softly at you as you stood at your back door. “Just… Thank you, Y/N.”
You nodded. “Any time.” You smiled back.
As the two of you looked at each other you could feel their was some new found awkward tension in the air between you.
“Well… Goodnight.” Andy whispered as he looked down at you.
You hummed, chewing on your bottom lip as you nodded. “Goodnight, Andy.” You leaned up to press a kiss to his bearded cheek. You instantly regretted it, you couldn’t remember the last time you kissed his cheek, if ever. “Sorry, I–”
Andy’s large hands cradled your face as he crashed his lips against yours in a bruising kiss that was all tongue and teeth. You let out a deep moan as you clutched his jumper in your hands. If it wasn’t for the sound of Andy’s cell ringing you weren’t sure you’d have stopped, but you did and quickly realized what you’d just done. Andy pulled his cell out in a panic and closed his eyes with a breath before answering.
“Hey, Jacob, what’s up?” He gave you a sorrowful look as he pulled open your kitchen door before stepping out and shutting it behind him.
You quickly locked the door before you began crying and guilty coursed your veins. What the fuck!
The Florist next-door… Andy Barber x reader series Part 2/?
<Part 1</>Part 3>
“Just a second!” You called out to the person that had just entered your shop as you finished the task you were doing in the back. You quickly walked out to the front and stopped in your tracks. “Andy?”
He looked up at you and gave you a tired smile as he held up a bag of takeout. “Lunch?”
You nodded, “Come through.” You smiled at him.
He bobbed his head and flipped the close sign over in the door window before flicking the lock into place as if it was muscle memory.
“I got your favorite.” Andy smiled at you as he sat at your work bench beside you.
You smiled excitedly as your stomach began to grumble as you inhaled the delicious smell. “Life saver.”
The two of you began to eat in silence. You hadn’t realised how hungry you actually were until you started eating but as  you stole a glance at Andy every now and then, you could tell something was wrong by the way he was playing with his food.
“What’s wrong?” You asked him, gently placing your hand on his arm. “And don’t say it’s nothing, Andy.”
He looked at you with worry swimming in his eyes as he gulped. “I need to tell you something, but I’m afraid it might make you think differently about me.” His brow furrowed as he looked down at his good. “You might never want to see me again.” He looked up to meet your gaze.
“I don’t understand.” You said.
Andy took a deep breath. “Because of what’s happening with, Jacob, I’ve decided to share something with, Laurie… That’s from my past,” He shook his head. “Before, Laurie and I, even knew each other…”
“Andy, what are you talking about?” You asked as you turned to face him.
“My father, is a convicted rapest and murderer.” He said, refusing to look at you.
Your mouth hung open in shock. That was certainly not what you had expected him to say. “… Whoa.”
Andy let out puff of air through his nostrils as he nodded. “Yeah.”
“I- hmm, why are you telling me this, Andy?” You asked confused.
Andy took a deep breath. “After what happened with your ex, I thought you deserved to know what you were living next door to… The media and the police are gonna be digging into our past and… I wanted to be the one to tell you.” He gave you a soft look.
You nodded and sat quietly as Andy began to tell you about his father. You found it hard to believe that this sweet and caring man in front of you had such a monster as a father.
“Laurie, thinks I betrayed her, by keeping this to myself.” Andy’s head laid in his hands.
Your brow furrowed. “She does?”
He nodded. “Apparently, because I’ve kept this from her for all these years, she’s not sure whether she can ever trust a word I ever said to her.” He let out a dry chuckle, “Like, our whole life together, is just one big fat lie.”
Your mouth hung open again. “Oh.”
“She blamed me, for what’s happening with, Jacob.” He huffed. He looked up at you with a frown. “What do you think? Am I in the wrong? Should I have told her?”
You let out a soft sigh, “I understand why, Laurie, might feel slightly betrayed by you. You guys are married and you shouldn’t have secrets.” Andy groaned as he looked away from you. “But, honestly… I think she’s the one in the wrong.”
Andy’s head shot up, “What?”
“Andy, just because your father, did those horrible things, does not make you the same person. You’re kind and caring, and you certainly love your family. Laurie, should be able to understand why you kept it a secret. I don’t go around telling every guy I go on date with my ex-husband used to beat me.” You frowned.
Andy looked at you with a soft look before he nodded. “Thank you, Y/N.”
You shrugged, “It’s fine… Have, you spoken to, Jacob, about this?”
Andy shook his head, “Not yet.”
You cringed, “Good luck.”
Andy chuckled, “Yeah… That’s gonna go great.”
“Honey, we’re gonna be late,” Andy shouted from the bottom of the stairs. “Honey?!” he shouted out again, not getting an answer the first time.
“Coming,” he heard you call down from the bedroom.
Andy fixed his tie in the hallways mirror, making sure he was presentable for the work party tonight.
“Remember when you said the last work event was so boring, we should spice it up?” he heard you say as you descended the stairs.
“Yep.“
“Well… ”
Andy watched your reflection come into view in the mirror, your feet finally landing on the hardwood, heels clicking on the ground.
“…I thought we could do that tonight?” you finished, a twinkle in your eye as you smiled at the back of his head.
Andy turned to face you, absently adjusting himself in his pants. “I was just kind of thinking to drop some Molly in the punch bowl,” he said, taking in your appearance in full with a hitch in his breath.
You stood before him - black stiletto heels on your feet - with a sleek black - perfectly tailored to your body - two-piece suit. Crisp white blouse underneath with mother-of-pearl buttons neatly done up to the top. You wore a necktie, with a perfectly centred knot, that complimented his, and a fedora - that should have been cheesy - but goddamn it was anything but - atop your head, your hair falling beautiful from underneath it. And your lips - the deepest and brightest red lipstick, matted to perfection.
You closed the distance with your husband, gliding over the floor, fingers wrapping around his tie to make sure it was snug enough.
I have never seen such an in depth essay in response to my work.
I hope I did you proud. I know you love your subby men and I couldn’t quite make him man (because I love being the one thrown around the bathroom stall of an office party), but I do enjoy a switch up. Seriously, I had more fun writing this than actually pegging someone in real life. Probably because it wasn’t Andy.
I am so glad you enjoyed it, and Andy has no issues if you want to peg swarmy Neal. It’ll leave that prick a blubbering mess on the floor and Andy could take his cases.
I love you so much, Natalie
Also, the ruined recliner? Just get Ransom to lap that shit up. He loves it, the good little pup.
