which any semi-competent web admin would know about, and any legitimate company should also know about, especially if their business is internet-related
this is the same company who claims they’ll safeguard children in the virtual space they’re creating
they haven’t managed to change the favicon on their website from the default Wordpress one so we know a) they’re running WP and b) they probably don’thave a semi-competent person running the site
(fun fact, if you run your website with Wordpress, it alerts you that you need a privacy policy AND provides you with a free template you can use to make one)
the company’s address is a luxury self-catering holiday home in Sheen Falls Country Club in Co. Kerry (as in the kind of place you’d rent for a week or two if you’re going on holiday with the family)
or the kind of place you’d live in if you’re new to the country and have no legitimate employment because to rent somewhere you usually need proof of employment
the rental market in Ireland is bad rn but this is Kenmare, not Dublin, it can’t be that hard to find an actual office or even just a house to rent

I do find it telling who has ended up being bullied and accused of being jealous or a hater or whatever. Because it’s not me. I’ve been tweeting about this subject for days, posting about it on here… nothing. The reply I got from TSR on Instagram was surprisingly civil, even agreeing with me (to a point, obviously). They followed me on Twitter and despite the fact that I’ve tweeted several times since then, and called out all of the issues very directly… nothing.
Nope, he picked on someone else, and it wasn’t someone whose tweets got more attention in the fandom. I went back and checked. The engagement numbers are similar; actually if anything, mine are higher. TSR follows me too. But unlike me, it’s someone who’s very vocal about being a fanon Twitter, specifically. And someone who’s been vocal about her mental health.
In other words, someone who has expressed what I can guarantee you he sees as vulnerability. Because to someone like this, who sees everything in terms of power dynamics, being a fan means being in essentially a subservient position.
He’s doing that on purpose. And the reason why he’s doing it is because it got under his skin. We don’t like his project, we see through his nonsense, we know he’s trying to prey on the fandom. Replying to that particular accusation the way he did pretty much proves that it’s true. You don’t have to try to undermine someone’s gut feelings or credibility unless they’re right. It’s a classic tactic that abusers use, too. They’ll gaslight or flat-out threaten their victims to keep them quiet, because they knowthey’re the predator, they knowwhat they’re doing is wrong.
He has no actual arguments or defence. All he’s got is a bit of what-aboutism and this, an attempt to shut people up by humiliating or hurting them. Because he knowsthat we know exactly what he is and what he’s doing. And when it comes down to it, he has absolutely no defence, because what he’s doing is indefensible and he knows it.

Exactly! It’s so out of touch with reality and the kinds of people who are into either of those things. There’s also the general skeeviness of not taking no for an answer. Like, someone calling the entire concept “BS” probably doesn’t want anything to do with any of it, but he insists on pushing the points he THINKS they want to hear about still further.
Not to mention the fact that the Xataverse doesn’t exist. There is no gaming in the non-existent Xataverse, because it doesn’t frigging exist. There is no animation in the non-existent Xataverse, because it doesn’t fracking exist.
Yep, literally all of this man’s behaviour at the moment shows that he won’t or can’t accept a “no”, and it’s skeevy af. You tell him you don’t like it, and he has to either try to change your mind or belittle and dismiss you to prove to himself that he doesn’t care.
And all of it makes me even less inclined to believe that any of this will ever exist, because he’s exactly the kind of guy who “dreams big” and makes all kinds of promises, maybe even believing them, until reality intervenes. Because his ego is so big that he simply can’t fathom or accept that people don’t like his project, or that his plans are impossible, or that he’s not as brilliant and irresistible as he thinks he is. So he lashes out at anyone who throws that into question because it’s a threat to him (and probably because on some subconscious level he knowsthat he’s gotten involved in something that he doesn’t fully understand, but he doesn’t wantto know it, so anything that points that out makes him very uncomfortable and defensive).
Oh boy. That Jason guy is really out there belittling people for voicing concerns instead of y’know, addressing them like someone who’s selling a legitimate product would. If someone has questions or concerns about my commissions, I explain it. And if someone says they can’t afford it, I don’t get defensive or laugh at them, because a) not having money for things isnt funny and b) I’m not an insecure little bitch.
But it’s also making me laugh because… you don’t react like that if you don’t care. If it doesn’t bother you. The fandom isn’t jumping into this thing with both feet and that bothershim. To the point where he’ll pick fights about it on Twitter with people so he can belittle them to make himself feel better.
I mean, one of his replies - not to a tweet TO him, but to a tweet voicing concerns that did not mention or tag him - was basically “I have no counter-argument but I’m commenting anyway to show you that it doesn’t bother me, you can have your assumptions, fine, doesn’t bother me.”
Which is, of course, the typical response of someone who absolutely is not bothered in any way. Yep. In fact, maybe you’re the one who’s bothered! Hah! I’m not crying, YOU’RE crying! Checkmate!
He’s a 50-year-old manchild who thought he could take advantage of what I’m surehe saw as a bunch of obsessed fangirls, and now it turns out most of them have brains and critical thinking skills, and see right through him and his bullshit, and he’s mad.
So he tries to strike back. With passive-aggressive comments that make him sound like the stereotype of a teenage mean girl. With that classic thing of “oh, she’s just sad and confused and hurt, we need to show love” and “I hope you get the help you obviously need” - and while it’s an obvious attempt to dismiss someone in that condescending, weaponising-mental-illness way, it’s also, I suspect, things that he’s really saying to himself. Or things he wishes he could say to himself.
This guy is immature, insecure, and just simply not very smart.
Not that I have any sympathy for him. Because he’s also trying to take advantage of what he CLEARLY views as impressionable, vulnerable young women - you don’t hit someone with the “hope you get help <3″ unless you think that’s a weak spot. And when he sees it not working, he gets mad. Classic red flag. And taken together with the fact that he’s not planning to keep young girls out of his “xataverse”, and his weirdly specific example he came up with of being a 50-year-old man talking to a 12-year-old girl… well. Red flags all around! One for everyone in the audience!
