Above the Corinthian columns of the front facade there are various words etched into the stone including “New Amsterdam”. The seal of New Netherland was a beaver ringed by the words “Sigillum Novi Belgii”.

It’s getting dark at 3pm, but this building is still gorgeous. It’s now a nursing home, wonder how the conversion worked out internally. Regardless it’s a beautiful place to retire.
