I had no idea what I was doing with UI since it was the first time I was ever tasked with such a role.

One of the maps I painted for the Bugology game. Now, realistically, there probably wouldn’t be a section  of grass with no flowers but due to one of the clickable items being a blade of grass. I took some liberties. 

Bugology - Tropical

Another of the maps I painted for the Bugology game. This one was fun to design the trees for, though the inclusion of a palm tree as a clickable object  lead me to problem solving. 

Bugology - Backyard background art

I joined an indie group around Aug as a background painter (which then turned into background, objects, UI assets and design, icons and logo artist). 

The game is nearing the finish line (as of late Feb), with just the developer’s side to be completed and then release!

Lunar New Year 2019 - Pig

Following the style I’ve been painting lately, I decided to paint up  a pig holding up the “Lucky” banner. Chinese characters stroke order is something I need to learn!

Granny Wolf - Little Red Riding Hood reimagination

The Wolf, who I self dubbed as Granny Wolf, from Little Red Riding Hood. Did he have a name in the fairy tale? I can’t recall anything aside from Wolf. 

This was more of a character drawing and brainstorm sheet, rather than orthographic. I do plan on creating an ortho for him once I finish my current personal project.

Art Vs Artist 2020✨

Last post of the year and finishing it with the #artvsartist trend! It’s been a bad and crazy year. A year we all will remember and most of us in a bad way. My chronic pain got worse, my engagement is dying and I’m not growing anymore here so I’m very unsure about my future as an artist, I’m scared of catching the virus and getting the long term sequelae added to my chronic pain… And I can consider myself lucky because even if I had a bad year, at least I hadn’t any personal great loss. If you have lost someone to this pandemic, or to any other accident/illness/disaster, I’m really sorry, and I know those words won’t ease your grief. The only thing that I can tell you is that it’s okay to take your time to grief, it’s okay to cry, it’s okay to feel bad. You will have to eventually get up again and keep up with your life, but if you need a pause and you can afford it, take it. And wish for you the best About the post, these are some of my favourite pieces of this year, and I hope I can keep making more the next one! Because I’m not sure about my next step as an artist, I plan when I finish all my commissions to take a break from them and think deeply about my art and where to lead it. I need to make of it a stable income if I want to keep surviving as an independent illustrator, because if my chronic pain doesn’t get better, working on my own with my own schedule at home is my only option of making a living.
