“You feel like home with your broken wings” with some bonus close up bits :) It’s one of this of my drawings that I feel weird about. From one side I’m happy that I’ve drawn it, and I really like some details. And from the other side something feels really odd. Maybe my expectations were a bit too high comparing them to my skill. Good thing is that my drawing skills deficiencies came out to the surface and now I can work on them.
Making art and showing it to the wide public on social media can be tough, some of us are of being criticised, not getting a positive response or a lack of interest. Many of us are comparing themselves to others because yes, there’s always someone who is better. Someone…who you can learn from. So just keep and don’t worry too much. On the end of the day it’s just a “graphite on a piece of paper”.

Orpheus — Kaysha Siemens
graphite on pergamenata paper, 5x7 inches.

The song of Orpheus, stilled for a moment in sorrow. Shades drift around him, drawn by the music of his voice and harp, but not the one weeps and sings for, his beloved Eurydice.

The Toymaker, one of my favourite illustrations made this year, about a Baroque style clown that builds toys that come to life when he winds up their mechanical key, althpugh they get lifeless again when the key stops. He is always building, aiming to create a toy that stays forever alive wothout having to wind up the key.

An Illustration I’m working on right now, slowly making progres… It’s a very detailed and complex one so I’m not rushing it, just enjoying the journey

“The Balance”

My main illustration of this year and my new logo and “brand image” as an artist! This was one of the hardest illustrations I’ve ever made because of the mirrored symmetry, which I had never pushed this far. And even of it’s not flawless, I’m really happy woth how it turned out!

This is the famous (finished part of) sketch that I flushed down the toilet.

I have a couple of bad habits.

They make me do dreadful things that are extremely satisfying such as sending drawings straight to hell by flushing, tearing in half, slaughtering the paper with wide, furious strokes of pencil, throwing them to the fireplace or completely obliviating them on purpose.

Sometimes I hate my art and get unsatisfied to this point that I can’t control the impulse because I know how good it will feel after doing these barbaric things.

Because I just have the worst relationship with my own art and myself.

:D
