LIVE

We were really deprived of all the found family shenanigans of Fez, Lexi, Faye and Ashtray because Sam Levinson wanted to make art that was “dangerous” and “not boring.” Like guess what Sam, there’s nothing dangerous or unpredictable about writing even more tragedy for characters who already have a lifetime of suffering!!!!!

Listen. I love Lexi, I want to give her a hug and tell her she’s loved and definitely send her to a good therapist (all those kids need to go to therapy). I want her to live happily ever after on a farm with Fezco and their three kids and eight sheep and four horses and a very much alive Ashtray. I want her to know she’s valued and talented and extraordinary, I want her to escape from her little traumatic corner of the world and live out all her writerly dreams.

But I just need to know what was possibly the reason for including that Cassie on the carousel scene in her play because that was a pretty heinous fucking move lol.

You expect me to care about canon? The thing that killed Ashtray? No thank you

The triggerword

“Sit.”

Now? Really? Of all places he had to say it now?!

Though, even when I’m dying of embarrassment, I do what he wants and get on my knees, looking up at Him. His word is absolute.

I hear whispers and notice the people on the street around us stare at us when the glowing tip of His cigar hovers above my mouth but my mouth instantly opens on instinct before the sizzling sound fills my ears and I taste His ash.

“Good boy.” He says as He ruffles my hair and pulls it so I will get back on my feet to continue carrying his shopping bags in the crowded city and I gladly follow Him. Feeling humiliated, used and accomplished.

Triggerwords can be so powerful.

Cigarette No. 37  1972, printed 1974

Penn experimented with photographic and printing processes throughout his career. The Platinum-Palladium print process, an old photographic method he revived, enabled Penn to achieve the level of tonal precision seen here.
Cigarette No. 37 is part of a series of cigarette butts shot at close range using a macro lens in the 1970s. In the absence of the context where one might usually find it (an ashtray, a gutter, or the street), the everyday form becomes large and mysterious, like an ancient ruin. This series inspired a larger investigation of detritus found on the street, including disintegrated work gloves, banana peels, and chewing gum. Entitled Street Material, this whole genre of his work was exhibited at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in 1977. This solidified Penn’s reputation as a serious artist, not merely a fashion photographer.

Euphoria season 2 - Review

Let’s start with the biggest flaws, in my opinion

1. The unfinished plots from s1.

Nate’s feelings towards Jules and his feelings about his sexuality? Who was that men speaking with Kat back in s1? Rue and Jules relationship?

And other ones that only appear in the second half of the season, like Cal’s disc that was with Maddy.

2. The absolute mess they did with most of the characters.

Rue was a extra in her own series because she spent half of the season being so over yet so boring, nothing like s1 Rue.

Jules, omg, she basically only really appear in the first half and it was in the worst possible. They really ruined her character. And it’s so bad, specially after the special where they really show us the depth of he character and for what ? For now in s2 they portray her shallow as a plate? This infuriated me.

Nate was just confusing. One episode he has Maddy at gun point, the other one he is “nice” and send his dad to jail like wtf? This is not complexity, this is just confusing. Oh, and for the first half of the season Nate was just the typical and boring toxic dude that every tv show have today

The same with Cal. Wtf happened that he became the Joker? Yes his backstory was beautiful and tragic, possibly the best one of all of the backstory intros but the rest…He hate Nate, then he love Nate, he don’t give a fuck to nothing anymore , he does give…it’s confusing.

Poor Kat. I don’t think I need to elaborate more with her. Ash became a terminador. I get it, he was tough since s1 but this season they dehumanize his character almost completely. “Oh but he was a kid acting on a stressful situation” it’s a fair point but s1 Ash was way smarter than this, s1 Ash would have do what Fez told him to do

Cassie poor Cassie. Her getting together with Nate was okay, fits her daddy issues and fits his unfinished business with Jules. But I dislike how the show keep mocking her, making her scream “I am crazier” and act all tough when in reality she was unable to face Maddy and just run away from her.

3. Eliott

The worst character so far. Terrible written, shallow, and it’s there just to be the men in between a wlw relationship. He stole Jules screentime and sink Rue’s arc.

It’s no coincidence that Cassie - Nate - Maddy stole the show this season since day 1

Rue could get the drugs with Laurie and her relationship problems with Jules could be because of the Rue’s addiction. Maybe Rue could catch Jules still fantasizing about Tyler since she was indeed in love with him and/or because of the trauma around the lie that was all that

They didn’t need Eliott to bring drama to the relationship

4. The pace, continuity and false leads?

Like I said, the first half of the show is just so weird. It felt off, I don’t know.

And you guys know about Laurie? She will forgive Rue like that?

What about Samantha’s intensions with Maddy? She was just being nice and a mentor figure or she had other intentions? If she didn’t, why that first scene between them had so much sexual tension and even some eroticism?

I really miss when Euphoria gave me anxiety instead of anger and frustration

But season 2 was all trash? No, let’s talk about the good parts

1. Sydney Sweeney

So now about the ups the season, I think the biggest one is Sidney Sweeney stealing the show. We all know Zendaya is amazing but I bet no one was expecting Sidney to still the show the way she did. Like I said, different from Rue, Cassie’s arc get our fully attention since the very beginning and keep us hooked until the last episode and Sidney really sold all of her scenes.

2. Maddy’s development

Yes, I love her development and how they humanize her character by letting her be vulnerable. Not that she didn’t had those moments in s1 but now it hit difference, at least for me. And allowing her to be nice to people and not the mean girl steriotype, again, I know we saw this is s1 but I think now in s2 the script really hit those points

3. Nate and Cassie relationship

I know a lot of people didn’t like but if makes sense. Cassie with her daddy issues and emotionally vulnerable because of the abortion and Nate not getting over Jules and being all single. He prey on Cassie, he saw in her the characteristics he liked in Jules: feminine, sweet, vulnerable. And she was also physically similar to Jules too. So makes sense that he would be will her to fill the void. And the portrait of this toxic relationship was actually done well, with him slowly putting her away from friends and family, making her more dependent on him.

And know this love triangle was something that a lot of people didn’t like but let’s be honest, it was the best part, this and Lexi and Fez.

4. A part from the script…

all the rest is 10/10. The cinematography, the acting, the soundtrack. I also like how a few things go full circle like Jules choosing herself and letting Rue in the s1 finale, and now Rue choosing herself and letting Jules behind.

So I think this season is a 6/10

I think one of the thing that bordered me the most is that Euphoria was a character driven story that was somewhat grounded in reality, yes we had our moments of just go with it and don’t elaborate to much because this or that wasn’t realistic but for the majority of s1, it was more “real” and character driven tramas.

Now in S2 they are full on the trafficking shit, flirting with crime type show style and tramas. Rue should not be walking around like nothing happened after the money she owes Laurie. The cops would not care that much about the death of a drug dealer. Rue doing parkour while she was feeling real sick due to abstinence to the point she couldn’t even stand straight. It’s like things don’t have consequences anymore, they choose which one will have.

Comments on Euphoria season 2 finale

-I like redemption arcs but for them to work, they need to be earned and not given. And I hate how they are just giving a redem to Nate.

The writing of his character this season was a mess. He only was that complex character from s1 after episode 5, and now this little redemption a few chapters after he threatened Maddy at gun point? Really?

I don’t care if he turn Cal to the cops, he still is the one who is pulling a gun to Maddy’s head and the one who is manipulating Cassie. He should first suffer the consequences of his actions and then actually change, at least that’s how a good redem is supposed to be (at least for me)

- I love how Maddy didn’t beat the shit outta Cassie because of a guy, Nate. She beat the shit outta Cassie because of Lexi.

-What a pathetic scene between Rue and Eliott.

Sure Eliott, your stupid song will make me forget that you went for Jules right after hear Rue’s say how much he loves her and how devastating would be losing her. Or forget how you gaslight and manipulate Jules into thinking that Rue didn’t feel attracted to her. Or even how you keep giving Rue drugs knowing that Jules was against it and didn’t know Rue was on drugs again and that this could separate them.

Fuck u Eliott. The worst character I have the displeasure to meet since Arthuro from La Casa del Papel (Money Heist)

-I don’t know why people think that in order to be dark, they need to kill someone. Ash death was unnecessary af. The whole thing about the police be so into find and capture Mouse murder feels so off, like , it’s not like Mouse was a rich white man for them to care that much about his death.

Anyway, for me Ash’s death just as Fezco’s (if he was the one to die) is just for the sake of shock value. They wanted this season to be darker than the first one and for that they thought they needed to kill someone. It felt forced, just shock value.

And to be honest, the writing is going down hill so bad that if Ash is still alive and that was, I don’t know, Fezco’s nightmare and they are both in prison, I wouldn’t be surprised

-And in the end, the fan theories were way better and way more interesting than what actually happened.

What I think it might happen next episode aka Euphoria season finale

-Someone will die. The promo shows Rue talking in her father’s funeral, again a funeral scene being show it to us … This ain’t for free, someone will die in the finale.

Personally I don’t think they would have the guts to kill Fezco especially after start to develop his character, I think Ash will die to save him and that’s why Fez is screaming in floor, he also probably got shoot but I don’t think he will actually die. Also because he may don’t have arc with Rue since he is not her drug dealer anymore but he have a promising arc with Lexi.

But if he did die, it would be a full circle. Like the season started with Ash protecting him and would end with Fez protection Ash.

-Cassie will loose her shit. She and Maddy will argue again and she is seem screaming to someone or something in a frame from the promo that could be her out of the school yelling at Maddy and the girls.

-Nate seeing the police lights can be two thing’s. One, he is seen the cars going out Fezco’s house or something. Two, the cops are there to arrest him if Maddy got to caught his threats and the whole scene in her bedroom on camera

-The play ain’t over and in case of Fezco death, It will be a funeral scene for him in Lexi’s play and that shoot of her staring sad and in shock could be of her hearing the news that Fezco died, but for this he didn’t really need to die, Lexi just have to thought he did. Anyways, so her looking at the empty seat in episode seven would have a whole other meaning

-I have no idea why the hell Eliott appears in the promo, I really hope it’s one of those dreamy scenes or flashback. And if really his like something real and in the present, I hope it’s Rue or Jules coming there and kicking him outta their lives, calling him for the sneak bastard he is.

-Theres some weird conversation between Maddy and Samantha where Maddy comment about her wish to leave the town, I hope this happens by the end season 3(if s3 would be the last) because we need Maddy. So I would hate if she leaves in this season finale.

Also, I need a payoff from those suspecious scenes between her and Samantha. Maybe Samantha will be the reason she stays…

-I think the cliffhanger of the season will be with Laurie. Her coming after Rue or something. And if Fezco survive, he can help Rue, making a deal with the cops so they can caught Laurie and he gets a lower sentence. Fezco has more use alive than dead, if he dies will be just for shock value which it sucks
