I want a Batlantern fic where Hal is waxing poetic about his very-much-not-a-secret crush Bruce Wayne. Meanwhile Batman is glaring at him. Hal is going on and on about how nice Bruce seems to be, and about all the great stuff he does, and how he “accidentally” spilled red wine on that one ambassador who was an absolute asshole. Batman gets up and leaves. Hal complains about “whatever his problem is” and then goes back to wondering aloud whether or not Bruce Wayne would be more of a spring wedding person or not.
Clark is suffering.
Diana is having the time of her life.
Bruce does not know how to respond to someone liking him and had to leave because he was feeling awkward and also almost accidentally commented on something Hal was saying.
Hal needs to be super conflicted over his great admiration for the charismatic Bruce, vs the raw magnetism of that grumpy team mate of his, Batman. He confides miserably in his close friend, Lois Lane.
Lois and Diana have a girls night to savor the moment before everything is inevitably revealed. Dinah shows up halfway through and announces that Bruce likes Hal too. They scheme. They plan.
Hal and Bruce try to have a relationship, but before that, hal finds that there’s a crisis of trust between them, well, unilaterally.

it’s very funny to me that so much batlantern content has hal as the more social one pestering bruce into working with him/the league while bruce is the difficult one and usually the less interested party in the beginning
like don’t get me wrong! that’s very fun and i love it! but it’s just hilarious seeing as most of their fandom dynamic comes from the n52 jl/the dcau movies based off of it, and 99% of their interactions there were literally just bruce desperately trying to wrangle hal into working with him and hal reacting to his every attempt at civility like a feral cat
