Akujixxv is a Jamaican-American artist. Her work advocates for mental health awareness, particularily among black women. In an interview with Color The Future, she states “I want my artwork to destroy the belief that mental illness is solely a white, middle class, heterosexual, able-bodied issue and challenge the myth in the black community that black people are immune to mental illness.”
