For this round of commissions I decided to do an exploration of what the school looks like, with the added bonus of our first good look at Danny and a few funny scenes.
I’m glad to see y’all understand that Dipper’s height functions according to a scientific theory known as the “One Punch Man Principle” (OPMP for short). For those unfamiliar with the OPMP, here’s how it works: How short will Dipper be? Short enough for the situation to be demeaning for him, and therefore funny (and also cute) for everybody else (especially the audience) … UNLESS a specific situation would be made more funny by him somehow being too tall for it.
Akechi: Maybe … it’s not *just* Akiren? Maybe I’m just … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … gay? For friendly, handsome guys … who are displaying competence? Never thought I’d associate *Sakamoto* with competence, but he undeniably knows what he’s doing in the realm of fitness … But, no, surely not! It’s unthinkable! This is all a fluke! With Akiren, it’s merely the thrill of facing a worthy opponent. With Sakamoto, it’s merely that my heart is literally racing due to the extended, physical exertion. But how to prove it … Ah, yes! Kitagawa is supposed to excel at artistic creation, and is generally considered quite handsome, too. I’ll simply ask him to give me some tips on sketching, perhaps observe his method and listen to him explain it, and when I feel nothing but bored derision, I’ll know for certain.

I like the notion that, because Akechi thinks Mishima is incapable of being a threat (because he’s so cowed by terror), Akechi would be more unguarded around him. Let the mask down. Because why not? He judges Mishima to lack both the spine and the know-how to use anything he might say or do against him. The manipulation and arrogance both fit Akechi so well. Except … he never would’ve expected how *good* it feels– how freeing, how much of a relief–to be honest with someone.
And Mishima gets how Akechi feels deep down. He really does. The only reason he himself didn’t turn into a force for vengeance is he wasn’t gifted the power of the Metaverse from on high (and also he had some friends who talked him back when he did start to wander down that dark road). So Mishima would understand all that rage and pain. And he would majorly admire Akechi’s resolve and boldness in making those who had hurt him pay for it. It’s everything that drew him to Akiren, really. The same traits.
Although I bet Akechi would immediately recognize and seek to cultivate Mishima’s skills. If nothing else, as a tactical asset. Which would validate Mishima like nothing before. It could be the turning point of their relationship, in fact. The first place where Mishima feels confident enough to start teasing Akechi for how bad he is at the coding and hacking.
Gods above, this could be develop in some really fun ways!
Same. One of the few things that disappointed me about the game is it often felt like the dialogue options for him were … a little lacking. And I don’t mean in the same general way they were lacking for *all* the men because you couldn’t romance them. Though, of course, I romanced most of them in my heart. I mean lacking in that, all too often, none of the options felt very nice to Mishima. Sometimes, it felt like I had to choose between being condescending or patronizing or mocking.
Let me be kind to him, damn it! He deserves genuine praise, gentle encouragement, and peck on the cheek! Maybe he wouldn’t have had his power trip in the first place if the guy he admired and wanted to help had had more options than to act like he was too cool for him.
