Someone from the Uk Here!

Maybe it was just how I was raised, but I was taught to clear off when dinner was being cooked like it was rude to hang around and expect to be fed by another person’s family unless you’ve been invited round specifically for dinner/lunch

Hi person with common sense that isn’t from the uk here i think the english are demonic

zaedyn-coining:

I was  planning on keeping this up for a bit longer, but it seems that I’ve made my point where I can with this method and have run into brick walls where I can’t.

I’ve been ‘innvolved’ in the Mogai community for about 8 years now. I havenn’t had a coininng blog unntil last year but I’ve been watching. I’ve been frustrated at the misuse of suffixes since it started happening with coric and it’s just gotten worse as it’s started happening with other suffixes (primarily comfic and aesic, with a few instances of conic. As surprising as it might sound, I really detest it and I’m most definitely not the first one to do it.

To make this clear, I’m the mind behind @coric-creation,@comfic-coining,@conic-convections, and @aesic-accumulations

I first got the idea to start coric-creation when I realized how often -coric was misused. It was admittedly late when it happened so my idea wasn’t entirely solid, but it’s clearly worked. I figured I would start a blog that grossly and consistently missuses coric and then floods the tags with it. That way, bigger coiners who actually cared would have a nearly impossible time ignoring me. And it worked.

It started with just responses on my blog, which wouldn’t have the effect I wanted. What I needed was to have those with actual platforms bring attention to it on those platforms. So I blocked anyone criticizing me on my blogs, hoping that they would post on their blogs about the missuse. In the best case-sennario, they would point out how each suffix was supposed to be used and that would help quell it. At worst, it would point others inn the direction of sources that explain how it was supposed to be used. And that worked too. As much as -coric is still missused, I’ve brought attention to it.

Then, I started realizinng that other suffixes were also missued. Either as suffixes, or as descriptors. The term that pushed me over the edge for -comfic was Spaceblancomfic. More than 100 notes and absolutely no one pointing out that it used comfic incorrectly. So comfic-coining was born. And what do you know, that got called out, too.

That was followed by Jasmiconic, I think it’s called, a term from Reddit. A gender whose definition nowhere mentions emotional attachment. So I made conic-convections. That one didn’t get much attention til recently. But since it’s not much of a problem outside of me, I don’t consider it much of a failure.

Aesic-accumulationns is a bit more interestinng. I’ve had the idea in the back of my mind since I saw Laceaesic. I just didn’t think about doing the blog til I saw Sunsetaesic show up on Genderpedia. I hadn’t created coric-creations when I saw the term, so the idea didn’t exist inn my mind when it happened. I’ve also gotten exactly the planned attention out of that one.

I was also contemplating a traumic focused blog, but it seems like Genderpedia has already taken care of that for me, so it never came to be

I’ll admit that my response to anons on aesic-accumulations wasn’t exactly my best move. I was over tired and not thinking, but it was still un-neededly childish and I’m sorry.

I’ll also admit that I went a little far with the terms on this blog and the proposal of corian and comfin centered blogs. I almost got into the headspace that I would be pre-empting this misuse. Drawing attention to it before anyone could do it genuinely and get the information out there to ward off anyone unaware of any given suffix’s definition. These were not  good ideas and I would like to apologize for those as well.

However, I won’t actually apologize for creating my other four blogs, though conic-connvections wasn’t as needed as the others. As much as the misuse of these suffixes still does exist to an extent, and likely will as long as this community lasts, I clearly got information out there that many wouldn’t have had otherwise. I will apologize for any stress or greif I’ve caused, but that’s it on this frong

I’ve unblocked everyone from all of my blogs so this can get out to anyone this concerns.

After this, I’ll be archiving all of my posts and flags and then deleting all of my posts save for this one. This one will be reblogged across all of my sideblogs and pinned. Then, they’ll be inactive. This is the last any of Mogai Tumblr will see of me. I’ll still lurk, like I always have, but I don’t feel the need to coin anymore. As much as I respect genuine coiners, this was just a tool for me and one that’s served its purpose.

Thank you for reading. If you accept this, fine. If you don’t, I can’t make you and I have nothing more to say. Goodbye.

This is incredibly confusing and I can’t understand the logic honestly. None of these suffixes are mine, but as someone who does get extremely upset over misuse of my own things, the general intention just doesn’t seem to match with the actions… at all.

Contributing to such a widely known issue isn’t going to fix the issue. It’s kind of like ironic offensive humor; if you don’t know what you’re doing, it’s not going to seem ironic at all, and it just comes off as, well, offensive. In this case, in trying to get people to show attention to the issue over suffix misuse, it’s ended up causing the opposite problem, with people now having reblogged, used, and otherwise gotten impressions from terms that were intentionally made to be misused. You’ve taken genuinely confused people, who accidentally misused a suffix, and instead of trying to guide those people, you’ve further promoted that behavior knowingly, which is far more malicious and just downright insulting than someone who was just misled or didn’t know better. When there’s no indication that you’re trying to be ironic, or show a point, you’re only making yourself a part of the problem.

People in the community havereblogged from your blogs without thinking anything of it, which means these blogs have directly caused to further confusion and misuse. I wouldn’t be shocked if some were also reposted. Plus, it means that people are now using genuine terms definitions, but with names that were made to be nothing more than rage-inducing to make a point. All terms that were actively being used will either continue being misused, or will all have to be renamed. Neither of which will be easy for the community, especially those who have no idea that they’re even being used incorrectly.

Not everybody follows every blog in this community, and Dexter making a post about it does not ensure that people on other platforms, or even people on Tumblr, will notice. In trying to make some kind of point, you’ve only contributed to the very thing you say you hate so much, and caused a lot of genuine harm towards real people who are actuallybeing genuine with their work. Dexter, who I have seen on numerous occasions being extremely upset over this, did not deserve to go through all of this over nothing. Not only did you continue anyways, but you did so while knowingthese actions were wrong.

I don’t know you or anything, but from the utter lack of respect you’ve given your fellow community members, I don’t even know what to say here besides…. maybe grow up a little, and learn how to tackle issues you’ve found in the community insteadof making them worse. If you’d tried to make informative posts, hell, even work with Dexter on it in regards to his own suffixes, you could have made a decent impression in the community and influenced people to understand these suffixes better. Now, we have an even bigger issue on our hands, and you’re not even sticking around to help fix it.

history fucked me up

oxford was built and operational as a college before the rise of the mayans and cleopatra lived in a time nearer to pizza hut’s invention than to the pyramids being built

I need a noncomprehensive history book that covers Known World History in time periods, like “in this century, all this shit was happening concurrently” and not just all spread out so I have to piece it together like some unpaid uneducated scholar

Mongols were fighting Samurai in Japan and Knights in Europe at the same time.

Star Wars a New Hope came out the same year as the last execution in France by Guillotine.

Abraham Lincoln and Edgar Allen Poe were friends in their early 20′s.

When the Great Pyramids were being built there were areas that still had Woolly Mammoths roaming.

Harvard University didn’t teach calculus in its first few years after being established because calculus wasn’t invented yet.

Nintendo was founded two years after the Eiffel Tower was constructed

This is the book you want: The Timetables of History - going year by year (or in the earlier sections, at least century by century) and showing you what was going on in various parts of the world in several categories (e.g. Politics, Literature, Science, etc.)  Super useful for visualizing what events were happening at the same time.
