The hallway was quiet.

Way too quiet.

Jinx sat on a bench in one of the many halls of the council building, alone. She hummed to herself, searching the walls for something interesting, anything to pass the time. She was so bored.

She had been brought here because Vi and Caitlyn had to talk to the council about… something. She wasn’t sure what, but she thought it had something to do with her.

It always did.

Jinx was all alone out in the hallway. It had been a lot of minutes. She didn’t know how many, but she knew she had been sitting on that bench for what felt like an eternity. Thoughts were starting to creep in.

They hate you.

They’re leaving you.

They’re selling you off to someone to hurt you.

They want you gone.

She wants you gone.

Jinx’s breathing picked up, the thoughts in her head that weren’t her own haunting her. They told her, over and over again.

They’re leaving you.

She was sure of it now, yes. This meeting was to get rid of Jinx. She was too much work, not worth the hassle. Vi and Caitlyn were turning her over to the council to do whatever they wanted with. She would go to jail. She would be hurt, starved, the hallucinations would get back again, she knew it she knew it she knew it.

Jinx threw her head back into the wall behind her. A dull pain spread out through her skull but she ignored it, doing it again. She grabbed the edge of the bench as tightly as she could, so tight that her nail splintered. Tears fell down her face in a mess of catastrophe.

Catastrophe. That’s all she ever was.

She burned, and hurt, and ruined, and broke everything and everyone around her. She was unstable, a menace, they wanted her gone gone gone.

Jinx choked on her sobs, loud and heavy and suffocating her. She struggled to suck in a breath to no avail. She couldn’t breathe, couldn’t speak, couldn’t scream.

If they were going to hurt her, she would just hurt herself more. She punched herself in the head, fist banging against her forehead like it could quiet the thoughts. She wailed, voice going raw. She bit down on her lip so hard she tasted blood. She didn’t stop.

Jinx needed Vi. Where was Vi? Oh yeah, she was leaving her, Jinx remembered. She was abandoning her again, just like she always did. Just like everyone did. She would run off with her perfect Piltie girlfriend and never think about her broken ‘sister’ ever again.

“Jinx?!”

A voice cut through the loud.

“Jinx, baby, come on, come back to me, it’s okay, I’m here now… Jinx?"

There were hands on her face, gently pulling away her fist and wiping her tears. Jinx coughed. She blinked a few times, trying to figure out what was going on.

"V-Vi?” Her voice was shaky, almost betraying her. Vi smiled warmly at her.

“Yes, yes, I’m here now. I’ve got you.” As if to demonstrate, Vi sat down beside her and pulled her into her lap. She cradled the back of her head, soothing the pain of where she had hit it. Jinx curled up, finding the familiarity of this position comforting. Vi wiped her finger along her bottom lip to get rid of the blood.

Jinx whimpered. “Don’t leave me…"

Vi seemed almost taken aback by this idea. "No, no, never, Bunny. Never. I promised you that, didn’t I?"

Jinx tried to find the memory, but her head was a mess. She didn’t like sifting through her thoughts. A tear rolled down her face.

Vi gently wiped it away. "Then I’ll do it now. I’m never leaving you, I promise. I promise.” She grabbed Jinx’s hand and squeezed. Jinx squeezed back.

“I… What happened?” Jinx finally asked. Vi’s eyebrows furrowed before the question finally registered.

“Don’t you remember when you were little?” Vi whispered, though not unkindly. She was soft in all her actions. Jinx shook her head. “We called it a meltdown,” Vi elaborated. “Happens when it all gets too much up here.” Vi lightly tapped on Jinx’s forehead before leaning down to kiss over the spot. Jinx hummed.

“I- I thought you were g-giving me up,” she whispered. Vi frowned.

“I’m sorry we didn’t tell you what we were doing. I wanted it to be a surprise."

Jinx looked up. "What is it?”

The door opened suddenly and Caitlyn stepped out. She was holding a piece of paper. She smiled at Jinx and brushed back her bangs. “You okay?” she asked. Jinx bit her lip and nodded.

Vi took the paper from Caitlyn.

“I think this is for you."

She held out the paper to Jinx. It was printed on thick, fancy cardstock that was decorated at the edges with gold details. At the top it read:

Certificate of Adoption

Jinx’s breath hitched in her throat. "You… you…"

Caitlyn and Vi smiled at each other.

"That’s right, Bunny,” Vi said. “You’re home.”

I love the characters in Arcane! Like Jayce and Vi and…

*looks at smudged writing on hand*

..Hymen drinker…

Arcane is the only show I watch without subtitles on because I don’t want anything distracting me from the animation

Jinx shooting the rocket at the council is her saying goodbye to powder for good, because that’s where ‘jinx’ started, that’s where she killed vander, claggor and mylo, that’s where she thinks vi left her, everything that was tied to powder ‘died’ there, and her choosing jinx because vi wouldn’t choose between caitlyn or her and shooting the rocket off is her saying a final goodbye to powder, in the place where powder accidentally ruined everything.

I hate this show.
