ANTIGONE: The fields were wet. They were waiting for something to happen. The whole world was breathless, waiting. I can’t tell you what a roaring noise I seemed to make alone on the road. It bothered me that whatever was waiting, wasn’t waiting for me.

Originally founded in the name of the Queen, New England has a storied history stretching back centuries. While many only know what N.E. stands for from watching the past 15 years of superior performances in the NFL, the six states that comprise the region have contributed immensely to the nation’s progress.

Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Rhode Island, Connecticut and yes, Massachusetts are the names of the splendid six that define this portion of the country.

Whether you think of the original colonists who landed at Plymouth Rock, Roger Williams and religious freedom; progressive movements in the 19th/20th centuries, the presidential primaries in New Hampshire or the rise of legislation that led to Obamacare, you won’t find a shorter Wikipedia page

Ever resilient against the British, racial strife, the intense extremes of old money and new poverty and even terror attacks, these these lands are rich with the blood, sweat and tears of a strong people.

“I didn’t have to choose, New England; I could’ve chose other states, anywhere I wanted,” says AMD Entertainment CEO, Annmarie Debrito.

image

“I choose New England because I feel the world doesn’t know how beautiful New England really is and showcase all the amazing things we have to offer.”

With primary filming locations scouted in Massachusetts, Rhode Island and Connecticut, Debrito says there’s many possible landmarks to showcase in both states and the commonwealth.

While we can’t necessarily give specific, cross-street level information out to the public, we will be showcasing very popular icons familiar to many in the region.

Whether in the soft snow of the winter or the wild waves of summer beaches, you can rest well knowing a proper representation of the environment is in store.

“Pencil Vs Camera” creations of Cape Verde by Ben Heine

The Republic of Cape Verde is an island country, spanning an archipelago of 10 volcanic islands located in the central Atlantic Ocean, 570 kilometres off the coast of Western Africa. The islands, covering a combined area of slightly over 4,000 square kilometres. Because of the infrequent occurrence of rainfall the overall landscape is not particularly green, despite what the country’s name suggests (“verde” means “green” in Portuguese).

The previously uninhabited islands were discovered and colonized by the Portuguese in the 15th Century, and became an important location in the Atlantic slave trade due to their geographically advantageous position. The islands’ prosperity often attracted pirates including Sir Francis Drake, who twice sacked the (then) capital Ribeira Grande, in the 1580s. The islands were also visited by Charles Darwin’s expedition in 1832. The decline in the slave trade in the 19th century resulted in an economic crisis. With few natural resources and without strong sustainable investment from the Portuguese, the people grew increasingly discontent with the colonial masters, who nevertheless refused to provide the local authorities with more autonomy. This discontent festered and culminated in 1975, when a movement led by Amílcar Cabral achieved independence for the archipelago.

Cape Verde has a rich cultural heritage influenced by continents like Africa, South America and Europe. This heritage is reflected in the country’s literature, poetry, cuisine, its dance and its famous national song, the Morna, represented worldwide by the famous Cesária Évora. (x)
