Casper (1995)
I loved this film so much when I was little, with the art nouveau -ish manor, the fun inventions and and the relationship between Kath and Casper (the pre-teens who watched it will understand).
I won’t post everyday because I can’t keep up the rythm this year but I will try to do as much I can.
“Es is’, ohne Leuchtturm alleine im Meer
Notsignale verloren, treiben umher”
—Casper
“Hörst du den Chor? Schief und doch schön
Höhen leicht daneben, wir sind Tiefen gewöhnt”
—Casper
We’re moving on. (yes, I’m speaking in the literal sense)
Never had I encountered an event more frustrating–for someone who hates and avoids endings, someone who grows accustomed to things easily (someone like me)–than moving over to a new realm of residence.
Over the course of factual and fictional events alike, moving to a new house has either been the catalyst to big happenings to the lives of the involved.
Haunting past
Put to light the story of the Kat Harvey, the girl from the movie,Casper. If it wasn’t for her psychic of a dad’s job demand to move places time-to-time, would she have met the resident phantoms of their not-so-new Whipstaff mansion home?
Chasing pavements
Remember the adventure of the toys from the first Toy Story film when Woody and Buzz almost got left behind after Andy’s family moved to a new village? I bet the two wouldn’t have been the best of friends if they hadn’t shared that rocket-blowing journey.
Kick-start anew
The 2010 film adaptation of the 80’s flick of the same title has its' story-line completely lifted from the former. Kid moves to a new neighborhood, kid gets bullied, bully can bust martial art moves, kid gets trained by a maintenance man who was once a martial arts master himself. The list goes on. But one thing of importance is the way possibilities opened up for the new kid after all the dramas of moving on.
New-born perspective
Introverted girl Bella, from Arizona, Phoenix, moved in to her birth town, Forks, Washington, to live a quiet life with his dad after her mom remarried. In that rainy town she met the guy (the creature, rather) whom she'll spent eternity with.
Whatever it is ahead of me in this new neighborhood that I’m headed to, I’m betting against odds that it will open up a new set of possibilities, making way for endless new things to discover about other people and about myself. My life may not be a high-budgeted Hollywood film, but if it’s me reading the signs, the Great Director, as always, has great twists and surprises in store for me.
