Yadriel comes from a traditional magic family. He’s also a trans boy who wants to prove to his family that he’s truly a brujo. The book opens with Yadriel secretly performing a brujo ritual, hoping to summon the missing spirit of his cousin. Yadriel’s powers work- but he accidentally summons the ghost of Julian, a boy in his class who’s also gone missing.
Yadriel is determined to find out what’s happening to the boys disappearing in his neighborhood. Julian has unfinished business of his own before he goes to the afterlife, so they agree to help each other. Over the course of a few days investigating at school and on the streets of LA- and hiding Julian in Yadriel’s bedroom- the two boys also start to fall for each other.
This book has important themes, but is still lighthearted, full of humor, and has a happy ending. It’s a great choice for readers who want a love story with a little bit of magic.

Letteralmente, lo abbiamo visto in biblioteca e ce lo siamo portato a casa.
Anzitutto perché nel titolo c’è la parola “cemetery”, e se ormai conoscete un po’ i vostri cari Cactus, saprete che le storie che hanno a che fare con cimiteri, estetiche gotiche e/o il sovrannaturale di stampo oscuro ci garbano; però sia la trama che la copertina di questo “Cemetery Boys” hanno suscitato la nostra curiosità anche per motivi che, ovviamente, approfondiremo tra un attimo nelle sezioni della recensione a loro dedicate.
