【Summary】

Actor Lou Yixiao (娄艺潇) plays Wu Zetian, and holds a prayer ceremony under the “Loshena Buddha Statue” in the Longmen Grottoes in Luoyang.

The statue of Lusena Buddha was excavated in the third year of Xianheng, Emperor Gaozong of Tang Dynasty (AD 672). Wu Zetian, who was the empress of Li Zhi at the time, she donated 20,000 money to the project, which is equivalent to more than 6 million Yuan (CNY) today in terms of the price of food at that time.

啼眉妆( Tí méi Makeup ) ：is a kind of makeup that became popular in the Mid-Tang and end of Emperor Xianzong of Tang Period. The eyebrows shape like the Chinese character ："eight/八", which make woman looks like sad and crying

The famous Tang Dynasty poet Bai Juyi (白居易) once criticized this makeup in his poem “Shishi Zhuang（ 时世妆）”, thinking that the popularity of this eyebrow makeup is a sign of national subjugation.

I really felt like I was in a C-drama during this shoot hahaha! Do you like my props? I brought 3!

I ALMOST called this costume a Jiang YanLi cosplay but I don’t think she would wear so many hair accessories. Other than that, it’s pretty close actually?
Maybe I shall restyle this outfit with a different wig and do a Shijie YanLi photoshoot…

The last costume I made this year was Lan Wangji from MoDaoZuShi and I had the incredible chance to take photos at @mobotgarden in St. Louis! This area of the garden reminded me so much of the Lan Sect school in Cloud Recess!

I have yet to wear Lan Wangji to a con and while I was at @holidaymatsuri, I saw so many MDZS and TGCF cosplays that I really regretted not bringing mine to the event .
It’s so nice to see Wuxia and Xianxia genres get so much love from cosplayers and I hope that my upcoming 2022 hanfu pattern will help many more realize their cosplay dreams.

“Come back to Gusu with me”
My tribute to Lan Wangji continues. I loved making this hanfu so so so much and it was amazing to stroll about in @mobotgarden with the sun kissing down on us. It felt truly otherworldly and may I remind that Lan Wangji’s title is 含光君which translates to Light Bearing Lord?

Since I read MoDaoZuShi / watched The Untamed, I have tried to get into other Danmei titles but nothing has hit as hard as MDZS. It doesn’t help that I’m back on a ridiculous work schedule until the end of the year and these stories take time to consume. WE’LL GET THERE SOMEDAY.
