Carving this sculptural, coil built piece. I’m trying to restrain myself and not carve the entire piece top to bottom. I only outlined the top half to carve so we’ll see how it goes. Usually when I do that, I feel like I’m leaving the piece unfinished, but I’m trying to stick to the narrative that this is a “clay body” and that the person is gradually getting their body covered in tattoos.
