You have awesome friends!!

94participants are interested in participating in our zine, 30participants are still on the fence, and 19participants say they are not interested in participating. I hope to see all 94 of your applications!
Would you apply for the zine as a(n)…
Quite a large percentage of our participants (33.7%) plan to apply as a Page Artist! 22.3% of participants plan to apply as Spot Illustrators, 15.2% of them as Digital Merch Artists, 12.4% as Physical Merch Artists, and finally 7.1% plan to apply as Writers! I can’t wait to see all the talent!
Which character would you most like to see?
Susie is the undisputed winner at46 responses, with Ralsei just one response behind at 45, and Kris bringing up the top three at 44responses. Humbly receiving 37responses is Noelle, and right behind her is Lancer at 36 responses! Spamton and Queen are tied at27responses, but there’s so many characters after them. Other suggested merch included badges, water bottles, a Deltarune-themed acrylic clip (to hold the pages of the coloring book), a banana car freshener, and a stress ball! In the comments section of the form, someone suggested we include charms as an option, though we are unlikely to go with that option. On the digital side, suggested merch included videos of artists coloring their work and crochet/knitting/embroidery patterns. One final suggestion was for a “digital coloring book” which we will happily provide since our fanzine is a coloring book zine and we plan to sell a digital version no matter what!
What is the most you’d be willing to spend on a Digital Zine (Basic Digital PDF and Digital Merch Bundle)
65.8% of our participants would buy our basic PDF zine at $15-$20 USD,14.7% would pay $25 USD, and4.2% of participants would pay over $30 USD for our zine.
In terms of the Digital zine + merch bundle, 29.4% would pay roughly $25 USD, 28.0%would pay around $30 USD, 16.8% would pay around $20 USD, and 11.2% would pay over $35 USD for our zine.
Scarlet Scarves Zines is looking into a method of trying to get the digital zine to those who cannot afford it. Follow our social media for more updates on this as we release them!
What is the most you’d be willing to spend on a Physical Zine (Basic Physical Zine and Full Bundle)
35.7% of our participants would buy our basic zine at $25 USD,24.5% would pay $30 USD,14.0%would pay $35 USD, and14.7% of participants would pay $40 USD for our zine.
We might include the digital zine as part of this bundle, but we will need to calculate our budget completely before promising this. Keep your eyes out for further announcements!
In terms of a full bundle (which would contain all digital merch, the base zine, and all physical merch (currently estimated at 6 merch options)), 35.0% would pay roughly $55 USD, 15.4%would pay around $65 or more USD, and 12.6% would pay $35 USD for our zine.
Which option is most appealing to you?
Unsurprisingly, the full bundle (physical and digital zines and merch) was our most popular option with 50.6% of our participants. Physical zines and merch were also very popular at32.2%. Still, we hope that those who love digital zines will appreciate what we have to offer (all 9.8% of you!)!

We had a few questions from our Interest Check focused on Contributor Applications, so we figured we’d go ahead and answer those now!
Q. What is the minimum age limit for applicants?

A. The minimum age requirement to apply is 18 years old. This aligns with Paypal TOS.
Q. Will there be options for only coloring pages without fic? I know people who like the game but would be put off by that.
A. You can purchase the digital zine and ignore the files with fic. However, we will not be offering any option without fic since we are excited to showcase their work alongside the other great artists on our project. Thank you for your question!
Q. I’m not sure if I’d have enough money to go in on a full bundle yet, but I would still be interested in the physical merch, so I was wondering if you would consider merch only bundles/add-ons?
A. We are going to be working out our budget as we accept contributors, so we will get back to you!
Q. If I made physical merch. Would I just be making the design or the actual merch. Because I can only do a design :3 thank you!!

A fanzine is a fan-produced magazine/book that highlights works like art or writing from various artists. Usually fanzines are centered around a theme and/or a specific TV show, game, book, etc. In this case, our fanzine features colorable art and fics of Deltarune, as well as additional merch.
✨ Is this zine for-profit?
Yes, this zine will be low-cost but will take profits. It will be available for a limited time only, in accordance with Toby Fox’s fan merch rules.
✨Will you be selling merchandise?
Yes! The zine will include both physical and digital merchandise. We are seeking 3-6 merch artists to produce these items as bonus/bundle options. (See our Applications page for more info.)
✨Is there an age requirement for contributors?
All contributors must be 18 or older by July 2022 to participate in this zine.
✨Can artists/writers sell their work after the project is over?
The artist/writer may sell their work anytime in-person (e.g., at a convention), but must agree not to sell or post their pieces online until one month after leftover sales end. After that date, all contributors retain the rights to the art and writing they submit and can use their own art however they wish.
✨How do contributors communicate during the Creation Period?
Contributors will join the Color Cafe Discord server for the feedback process, announcements, check-ins, etc.
✨How much will the contributors be paid?
All contributors will receive a digital and physical copy of the zine, including any merch that gets funded. However, if the project does not break even, we may ask for contributors to pay for their shipping fees. After fees and taxes have been deducted, the profits will be divided equally among all contributors and moderators.
✨Through which payment processor will contributors be paid?
Contributors will be paid via Paypal.
✨Are AUs allowed for this zine?
No, we are looking for canon and canon interpretation pieces only.
✨Are ships allowed for this zine?
Canon ships are allowed, but this zine is mostly focusing on gen (i.e., non-romantic) content. However, if it could happen in canon, it is appropriate for the zine.
✨ Will there be NSFW material in this zine?
No, this zine will only have content up to a Teen (T) rating, which is content that may be inappropriate for audiences under 13. This allows for some depictions of violence and relationships, but nothing graphic. It will allow for minimal swearing.
✨ Is traditional art allowed?
Yes, as long as you can digitize it (i.e., make it transparent). Please make sure to provide a clean, high quality scan of your work (at least 350dpi). If you intend to do a traditional piece for this zine, you must demonstrate your ability to follow the above instructions in your portfolio.
✨ Are two-page spread pieces allowed?
No. We are only accepting one page pieces and spot illustrations. However, if you’re considering a spread piece, you may want to consider applying as a merch artist and doing a desktop wallpaper/background!
✨ Will we be allowed to create content that is set during Undertale?
No, we want to make this a Deltarune-focused fanzine. You may include the characters from the Light World / the overworld / Hometown, but you should aim to distinguish these characters and setting from those of Undertale’s. We want our fanzine to reflect the unique atmosphere and story of Deltarune.
✨Can we make more than one piece as a Page Artist/Merch Artist/Writer or more than two pieces as a Spot Illustrator?
No. Unfortunately, we only have space for one piece per Page Artist/Merch Artist/Writer and two pieces per Spot Illustrator.
✨Are you inviting guest artists/writers?
Yes, though we are currently still working out the numbers and who we would invite. If you have suggestions around the time of our interest check, let us know!
✨Are you selling internationally?
Currently, our plan is to sell internationally. We intend to set up a shop on BOOTH to sell to Japanese customers so that they may access their favorite payment options.
