Haven’t been posting often as I used to, but man…where do we start?

I’m sure you have went to the Anime Fest @ NYCC which was supposed to be a part of Anime Expo. At first I thought this side con was going to be the biggest, most awful, most tragic moment in convention history as a dud turned out to be a fair and balanced convention.

One of the highlights that caught my attention was the schoolyard (LMAO). The Schoolyard section turned out to be a joke, but I’m glad that it was no DashCon as many people occupied themselves on the fake grass. Plus, they had activities going on from playing group games to doing yoga.

The panels for Anime Fest NYC were really lacking. While some stood out, others didn’t gain enough for audience attention. One panel showing a screening for Goblin Slayer wasn’t moderated as the show was intended for mature audiences, there were minors at the panel. Why didn’t they check people’s ID for this? And second of all (I want to watch this since its good for the first episode) the screening was in the afternoon. Yeah, what a problem indeed.

However, I know that Funimation had two panels and it did brought in crowds. It’s a saving grace for this con, but everything else was a hit or a miss.

The Cosplay Meetups were a drag. Barely any cosplayer would show up, being the exception of My Hero Academia. Majority of cosplayers would be back at Javits. While here at Pier 94, it was a total drag and there was barely any cosplayer showing up for the meetups.

I heard that some people had a hard time getting to this convention as its location was twenty blocks from the Javits Center (Pier 94). I read that one individual had to walk up from Javits just to get to Anime Fest whereas some people are mislead on information to board on a shuttle bus to get there too. I didn’t take the shuttle because I did not go to NYCC this year (I’ll give a reason).

Can I tell you how funny it was that there was no service in the ATMs at Pier 94? At Javits, there’s a row of ATM’s where you can withdraw cash. Here, there’s barely any as there was only two machines that are completely out of service lol

Artist Alley was still a great alley. However, a few people critique the alley as lacking compared to the Artists in NYCC. I wish that people should give these artists the respect that they deserve. These are the people that are fans that made these works and they put in time and effort on their masterpieces. I threw in money for at least three artists that stood out for me.

AnimeFest @ NYCC consists of 70% Anime content and 30% NYCC related content. The booths that you know of from VIZ, Kodansha, Funimation, Aniplex, Cruncyroll and other major names were all at Javits. Same goes for video game companies as Square Enix and Bandai Namco had demos for upcoming titles. It would be really nice that they should’ve made a mini booth for others to enjoy at Anime Fest. Too bad ReedPop did not thought of that sooner.

Despite all this, I had a fun time at AnimeFest over the weekend. While Cosplayers made the best effort on putting themselves out there, to the fun activities that are provided, this was a space that really needed improvement. I am sure that they’re taking their jealously over AnimeNYC, but hell, I am not paying $200 for four badges to be at New York Comic Con. Once you bring back three/four day badges, then we’ll talk.

AnimeNYC, here we come!

William Wordsworth (1770– 1850).

There is a change—and I am poor;
Your love hath been, nor long ago,
A fountain at my fond heart’s door,
Whose only business was to flow;
And flow it did; not taking heed
Of its own bounty, or my need.

What happy moments did I count!
Blest was I then all bliss above!
Now, for that consecrated fount
Of murmuring, sparkling, living love,
What have I? shall I dare to tell?
A comfortless and hidden well.

A well of love—it may be deep—
I trust it is,—and never dry:
What matter? if the waters sleep
In silence and obscurity.
—Such change, and at the very door
Of my fond heart, hath made me poor.

One complaint: you should add nonfiction books to the quiz, I only read nonfiction (typically about learning languages) and I have been since I was young so I had to lie for the book questions.

Dear Tumblr

Hiya I’m one of those porn blogs you hate so much. I don’t think we’ve ever hurt anyone or did anything wrong but damn do you hate us. This website is popular because we were free to express ourselves. Well apparently that’s no longer the case, you kill NSFW you kill expression. Look around you Tumblr, you’re the bad guys right now. Wake up, stop being the villain.

Pls reblog and hopefully they might care.

Legitimate complaint about Better Call Saul

Why wouldn’t Lalo Salamanca contact Jimmy? He was the most obvious person to contact. He was the only person that Lalo was likely to contact outside an assassination attempt.

Jimmy was the person Lalo Salamanca trusted. Jimmy was the ONLY person that Lalo Salamanca trusted to get him out on bail, collect his $7 million and deliver it to the courthouse.

Who was the only person Lalo Salamanca trusted? Jimmy McGill.

Oh, sure, he trusted Nacho for a very brief time but that was all in the past. No, the only person remaining for whom Lalo Salamanca held any regard for, saw as trustworthy was Jimmy McGill.

Does Vince Gilligan not watch his own show?

So E:7 is firmly rooted in the idea that Gus & Mike aren’t very bright.

I mean, they saved Jimmy! They knew that Lalo wouldn’t risk his $7 million, his freedom on any of his own henchmen, that he trusted Jimmy more than anyone, and Mike followed Jimmy to make sure he succeeded.

He knew it was Jimmy that Lalo trusted. He knew it. He acted on that knowledge. AND THEN we have MAJOR MAJOR MAJOR plot turns all based on the premise that Mike had no idea. Gus had no idea. They’re both blithering idiots.

And why shoot Howard?

It’s a message. It has to be a message. But it’s the wrong message. It’s the exact same message that convinced Walt to start mixing a Ricin burrito for Tuco Salamanca. It was the exact same message that convinced Nacho to put a contract on Tuco Salamanca. It’s not the message you want to deliver, not to anybody you need to depend on.

It’s just not good, it’s not clever. It’s breaking character in Mike & Gus, and it’s portraying Lalo as clever even as he makes a massive strategic error.

peashooter85:

The Complaint Tablet of Ea-Nasir

Currently on display at the British Museum, the “Complaint Tablet” is an ancient Mesopotamian cuneiform tablet dating to around 1750 BC.  It is essentially a customer service complaint from a client named Nanni to the merchant Ea-Nasir.  Ea-Nasir had traveled abroad to buy copper ingots and promised Nanni to sell some of them to him.  Nanni sent a servant with a sum of money to buy it. The copper was of low quality, plus Nanni accuses Ea-Nasir of treating his servant rudely. The tablet was housed at the National Museum of Iraq, but was rescued from looters during the 2003 Iraq War. It was originally found in the ruins of Ur.

Tell Ea-nasir: Nanni sends the following message:

When you came, you said to me as follows : “I will give Gimil-Sin (when he comes) fine quality copper ingots.” You left then but you did not do what you promised me. You put ingots which were not good before my messenger (Sit-Sin) and said: “If you want to take them, take them; if you do not want to take them, go away!”

What do you take me for, that you treat somebody like me with such contempt? I have sent as messengers gentlemen like ourselves to collect the bag with my money (deposited with you) but you have treated me with contempt by sending them back to me empty-handed several times, and that through enemy territory. Is there anyone among the merchants who trade with Telmun who has treated me in this way? You alone treat my messenger with contempt! On account of that one (trifling) mina of silver which I owe(?) you, you feel free to speak in such a way, while I have given to the palace on your behalf 1,080 pounds of copper, and umi-abum has likewise given 1,080 pounds of copper, apart from what we both have had written on a sealed tablet to be kept in the temple of Samas.

How have you treated me for that copper? You have withheld my money bag from me in enemy territory; it is now up to you to restore (my money) to me in full.

Take cognizance that (from now on) I will not accept here any copper from you that is not of fine quality. I shall (from now on) select and take the ingots individually in my own yard, and I shall exercise against you my right of rejection because you have treated me with contempt.

The ancient art of the customer complaint….

People who duplicate letters for the unstressed syllable in a word like LOVEEEEE instead of LOOOOOVE make me uncomfortable.

Sending anyone anywhere that you don’t know messages that start with “hi” and nothing else is going to result in a blank messenger, and at worst, a block.  Repeatedly sending “hi” or asking random questions is also gonna result in the same.  Most of us aren’t looking to just chat or indulge direct kink content for people in private.  Some of us do that with friends we’re already very familiar with, not strangers and have no interest in doing so with strangers.

Similarly, nobody likes being asked “do u rp?”  Unless they actively post requesting RP partners, just assume that the person in question doesn’t RP, and don’t keep pressing it.

We make kink content because we enjoy it and we like that there’s audience of people who enjoy it as well.  Interactions don’t have to extend beyond the ask inbox.  To put it into context, because I’ve had to explain this multiple times to people who eventually ended up blocked, lemme paint you a scenario:

You’re in the grocery store, minding your own business, listening to music, shopping and carrying on.  And then some random person walks up to you and says “hi.”  You don’t know them.  You don’t know their intent and you have no idea why on gods green earth this person is interacting with you when you just want to listen to Celldweller in peace.  Suppose just to be cordial you just wave back and say “hi” in response.  Then, they start asking you all of these questions that you would much rather not be answering.  Even if they’re harmless enough, you don’t want to be engaging with this person, and you don’t want them suddenly acting all buddy-buddy with you because you have no clue who they are, and are perfectly okay with that.

The internet gives us ambiguity and as such, far too many assume that means they have cart blanche to do away with basic social etiquette.  They do not.  Whether in real life or online, you always want to treat others how you want to be treated.  If you wouldn’t go up random strangers and try and engage with them in person, then you shouldn’t do so with people online either.  It may seem harmless, but it creates an awkward situation that no one wants to be in.   Trust me, no matter the content creator, nobody likes that, and nobody is going to start striking a full conversation with anyone who does that.

Which also, finally, leads to a last major point…under no circumstances should anyone anywhere, EVER, send nudes or lewds unsolicited.  Don’t assume that just because we make kink content and some of it can be steamy that we want to just find that stuff in our inboxes.  Whatever we seek out, let us do so on our own.  And DAMN sure don’t expose yourselfto us directly.

Pathetic Programming

So, there’s a feed I unfollow because it’s repetitive. Restart Tumblr and about 20 of the first 30 images are from that specific feed, each one prominantly labeled with the option to follow.

Somehow, that’s part of the current Tumblr experience.

I know it could be done better.

Why can’t most endings be like Kingdom Hearts III’s? Where there’s a way for everyone to be alive, happy, and together… (Minus that very last shot of the MC not getting his.)

Philadelphia International Airport April 16th, 2014

To whom it may concern,

I was meant to fly out of Québec City International Airport (YQB) on April 15th, 2014 with American Airlines on flight n° 4134 departing at 6:00 a.m. My original itinerary was: Québec City – Philadelphia; Philadelphia – Miami; Miami - Cali.

Thus, on April 15th I grabbed a taxi (40$) and got to Québec City International Airport (YQB) at 3 a.m., to find out that flight n° 4134 was actually postponed to 12h30 p.m. “because of the fog”. Since this meant loosing my connection, aUS Airways agent (representing American Airlines in Québec City) offered to put me on the same flight departing the following day. Hence I caught another cab - paid another 40$ - headed back to Québec City and paid another 100$ to spend an extra night at the Cabaret du Capitol.

OnApril 15th, at 10.46 p.m., I received an email from US Airways (American Airlines partner) informing me that flight n° 4134 departing from Québec City and headed to Philadelphia was delayed. Instead of leaving at 6 am, just as the US Airlines agent had ensured, it would leave at 9:45 a.m. – implying, once again, that I would’ve lost my connecting flight to Cali and spent an excessive amount of hours in Philadelphia International Airport (PHL). I suppose you can begin to understand my frustration at this point.

I therefore spent an hour on the phone with American Airlines to try to find a solution, which actually seemed acceptable: Québec City – Toronto; Toronto – Miami; Miami – Cali, operated by West Jet.American Airlines sent me the tickets via email and I therefore got back on a cab at 2h30 a.m. – paid another 40$ - and rolled back to Québec City International Airport.Yet once I got there, I was told that the ticket issued from Québec City to Toronto appeared to be UNPAID (American Airlines never paid for that ticket). I therefore called American Airlines (as I was advised to do) at 4h30 a.m. from my cell phone. I was put on hold for 40 minutes (obviously) until Alan Chong could finally take care of my case. He spent 1h on the phone with me, that is an extra 60$ for me. The problem was that my new itinerary conflicted with the previous one operated by US Airways, who still had me registered on flight n° 4134 for Philadelphia.  I therefore went to the US Airways counter but by the time my ticket was paid (6h00 a.m.) the flight for Toronto was already closed (departure 6h25 a.m.).

I therefore got back on a cab – paid another 40$ and an extra 20$ - to get some rest.

At 3:00 p.m. I got back on a cab – paid another 40$ - and finally managed to fly out of Québec City at 5:30 p.m. to reach Philadelphia International Airport at 7:15 p.m. You’d think the nightmare was over at this point, but no. It is 11 p.m. and I am currently stuck at Philadelphia International airport with my luggage. That until 4:30 a.m. tomorrow (April 17th) - when 4:30 a.m. will finally be able to check-in my bag. For this reason, I cannot go through security - and therefore can’t access the lounge area to get some sleep nor the restaurants to have something to eat and drink.

I believe this story deserves a full refund. In fact, I request a full refund and I hope you won’t force me to insist.

Best regards,

Felipe Martinez

Wow.Tumblr Yahoo was pretty quiet about this, but as part of the new “community guidelines,“ posts from adult flagged blogs will begin to not show up in search engines, on mobile, or even in a damn tag search, unless you are following them beforehand.

http://www.tumblr.com/docs/en/nsfw

That would certainly explain why I have been missing a lot of fanart…

Isolate the blogs, then get rid of them in a year or two? Sounds like it makes sense. Moving away from the perfectly acceptable and no-fuss DON’T USE THE SITE IF YOU AREN’T 18 YOU LITTLE SHITStoLET’S PROTECT AND ADVERTISE TO THE CHILDREN HEY KIDS!

Well, confirmed that neither of my blogs will ever show up in a tumblr tag search again. Can’t search myself. Can’t find slugbox or slugboxcreatureart via any tag. This is pretty upsetting, as it means any SFW or fun fanart will obviously never show up in a search, EVEN if you are already following me. For all intensive purposes, I have no reason to ever tag anything again, since it’s a flag that affects the entirety of my blog.

And this affects many of you all as well, since tumblr/yahoo is capable and already handing out these Adult-Blog tags FOR you. And it’s impossible to “change your ways.”  They have not technically censored us. Rather, they have made it essentially impossible for us to find and engage with new connections and people, by completely cutting us off from all forms of discovery.

image

This means the only way to gain new followers is through offsite linking. Because if a blog likes, replies, or reblogs an adult blog, they are likely to ALSO be an adult blog, and thus unsearchable.

SOoooo basically there’s almost NO point to being on the site. I’m predicting a wipe of all adult content within two years. Either manually or because we’ll all have left. After all, what’s the point if I can’t even get searched or seen?

You all know that slugboxart is my art tag, right?

http://www.tumblr.com/tagged/slugboxart

See anything in there…?

#Why even tag this?

well. I can just sit and wait…

This is irritating as I was just starting to get a good thing going here on tumblr, and it seems like there is a pretty large and nice artist community here with people who do both smut and other kinds of art.

If their intentions are to marginalise the risqué and smutty so that those of us who are in that camp can’t even reach out to new people (even if those people may indeed be interested in finding us), then that’s a really sordid way of handling it. It’s obvious that letting the artist communities decide on their own how to use their creativity and fill the site with content is not what they want. They want all the “bad" stuff shuffled into a corner where it can’t be found by the oh-so-sensitive mainstream masses instead.

As if there aren’t already tons of art/blog/stupid nonsense social sites that pander to them.

yo i already reblogged this but this is kind of a huge issue, and not in a “look at how tragic this disaster is" or “let’s be mad at this legistlation that this one far off country that we can’t influence has passed" sort of way but in a “if this isn’t seen by enough people it will ruin tumblr" sort of way so hey maybe reblog this

Yes: “Adult" blogs DO NOT APPEAR IN TAG SEARCHES, even for followers.

They are VERY quiet about this, imply otherwise in their help files and refused to answer a direct query about it by email, instead re-pasting the canned reply again.

Even though I’ve now spoken to their support and been reclassified to “NSFW" and show up in non-safe-mode and follower tag searches again, I’ve decided I’m going to reblog every post that crosses my dash about this issue, for a simple reason: BECAUSE of the tag and indexing problems effectively silencing a lot of bloggers, I believe it’s getting a lot less publicity than it would otherwise.

As such, please signal boost this post.

Reblog this folks, and every post you can find about it.  Get this news out there.  Tumblr has been censored and an entire section of its userbase forcibly silenced by simply making it next to impossible to communicate with them to see their problem.

Their help section explaining this change indicates that the change should only have affected people who have Safe Mode turned on, however this is not the case and anyone with an ‘Adult’ blog has been quarantined from the rest of the site.  Furthermore that classification is no longer at our discretion but rather something assigned by Yahoo staff - I refuse to believe Tumblr staff had any willing part in this filthy trick.

Incredibly talented artists now find it impossible to attract attention on a website that has ALWAYS stood on the grounds of the user’s right to post what they want, when they want, and users were free to follow or not follow as they see fit.  The change as proposed - that is, the effects only visible in safe mode - would have been a good change that would have helped people who needed a SFW dash.  However, this change is quarantining a massive numbers of blogs from the rest of Tumblr, making it impossible for those blogs to continue to function as they have.

When asked, Tumblr support will not acknowledge or deny that this was a bug in implementation and by this point we should assume this was a willful, permanent change.  And we should be mad as Hell!  This site was always about the freedom of the user to see or not see as they saw fit, to find and follow and unfollow as their desires dictated.

Yahoo/Tumblr has removed that freedom from us and is now dictating what we are and aren’t allowed to see.  They have taken away our freedom to post and see what we want, when we want.

The golden rule of Tumblr has always been ‘I post what I want on my blog.’  Not anymore.  Post your adult artwork and they flag you as Adult, and put you in the corner where no one can easily see you, no one can easily find you can’t easily communicate with anyone to tell them about it.

This is terrifying, and the fact that they just made this change without telling us anything about it beforehand is even moreso.  Since this is Yahoo we’re dealing with, I doubt complaints will do any good, but we should ALL be complaining about what they have done to us as of yesterday.

This is no longer our site.  This is no longer a free place.  They’ve taken away the golden rule of Tumblr, and done it so quietly no one noticed until it was too late,

((Real talk for a minute, guys.  I don’t draw or post smut or porn or whatever at all on this blog and only rarely do I reblog it on other blogs of mine, but this could and probably does have an effect on even plain old nudity which has always been a part of the artistic world and frankly the idea of censoring something that can easily be blocked via IMPLEMENTING A FREAKING BLACKLIST OPTION ALREADY OR HELL EVEN PARENTAL CONTROLS IF YOU’RE SO DESPERATE TO MAKE THIS KID-FRIENDLY GOD DANG when  that is SO OBVIOUSLY NOT THE POINT OF TUMBLR and also WHAT KID ON THE INTERNET HASN’T PROBABLY ALREADY SEEN OR ALREADY KNOWS ABOUT THESE THINGS)

it just angers me.

Sorry for the way off-topic post that is probably not now or ever actually relevant to this blog beyond the censorship of art but…

YAHOO STOP.

I am done now.))
