In the words of Mos Def/Yasiin Bey, (who the title of this piece also comes from), “My Umi says shine your light on the world. Shine your light for the world to see.” First finished piece of 2019 down. I started on it at the end of last year but because of holiday travel I was finally able to finish it now.
Thank you Gia (@giametricart) for letting me use your wonderful hair for this piece. The first time I met her, I asked if I could take a pic of her dreads. She was hesitant, but agreed.
