I wanted to share some of the background and character artwork I did for the animated “Phantom in the Mirror” trailer I made a few months back.
I studied a bunch of artwork from the original series (backgrounds, character model sheets, storyboards, etc) and replicated the drawing style to make Vlad’s manor and Clockwork’s domain. But for Clockwork, I used a different color palette to make it look more purple-ish.
For Dark!Danny’s character design, he had to look a little older than series!Danny, maybe by half a year to one year older. That meant making his eyes smaller and changing his character design slightly.

It’s the one year anniversary since I started my fancomic, “Phantom in the Mirror,” and so I made a short promo for it for funsies lol. The comic’s all done (it’s my pinned post).
It started when I wanted to learn how to draw more stylized backgrounds, so I drew Vlad’s manor. I went on to collect a bunch of style guides/background art for the show and studied them so I could learn how to make the backgrounds. Then I thought, “this would be pretty cool to see how Phantom in the Mirror would look in the show’s style.” So I did this…
It was hard…but it was fun (; 7 ; )

( ; ///w///; ) I learned a lot of things drawing Phantom in the Mirror, especially since it’s so different from my usual style. I’ve had this comic in mind for a few years now, so I’m glad it’s out lol.

Secret Trio - Prologue Page 3
Woooo actual panels today! Don’t get used to it though because there is only one more page featuring panels in this prologue. But panels will be the norm for the rest of the comic so don’t worry.
Drawing the interior of Clockwork’s lair was difficult because we really don’t have a lot of references to work with. Hopefully I was creative enough with what I had to work with. And just to clarify, that is a statue of the Grim Reaper, not the actual spirit himself. Clockwork has Grim Reaper stuff both on the inside and outside of his lair, which I never noticed before! Veeerrrryy interesting
