Hi all, this piece is now up up for sale on @threadless as a Men’s and Women’s Tee - get yours here! This is the first design I’ve ever had printed by Threadless, and it is quite surreal to have my art on a licensed piece of Marvel merch! Very exciting!

In retrospect, Hawkeye and the Winter Soldier should have been a thing. It should have been it’s own show.

I say this as someone who loves Anthony Mackie and I get the idea that he and Sebastian Stan had chemistry and we’re making shows, so they should have a show. (Never mind that the “chemistry” is Anthony Mackie’s charisma and media training, much as I love Sebastian Stan as an actor, this is important to acknowledge.)

Sam should have had a chance to be the sole focus. Even now that they’ve announced a Cap 4 movie, I have this feeling that he’s been short-changed as a character. Or going to be further short-changed. Short-changed again.

Watching Hawkeye I have the same feeling that I had with TFATWS and Loki. That is, 6 episodes is much shorter than you think. The potential to play this differently is maybe just a sticky feeling that we can’t escape. Certainly introduction Kate Bishop is a noble pursuit.

Maybe there’s just always other ways to do things. Thank goodness for Ao3. Or more likely there are still persistent forces in corporate media that deprive us of more meaningful stories in the pursuit of money.

Reading a series and finding a David Aja issue is a marvelous treasure. He is just a genius. This page is perfect; track the way your eyes scan to every element, and how they float across Arnim Zola’s panel after Cap identifies him. There are several other postable pages from this amazing issue, but I particularly like the way Aja draws Zola, one of Marvel’s top two dumbest-looking villains.
