Jed and Ben sat next to each other by the fire next to the Old Mill. Ben looked up at the night sky. Stars and their constellations sparkled against in the midnight canvas.
Jed watched him, smiling. “What are you thinking about?”
“Do you know the story of Eros & Psyche,” Ben asked, giving Jed his attention.
“Another relative of yours?”
Ben chuckled. “Yeah. Eros fell madly in love with a mortal, Psyche. She was the most beautiful woman on Earth in her time. Wow, Aphrodite was jealous and did all in her power to dissuade Eros & Psyche. Put her through trials and she almost died. Aphrodite eventually gave in and Eros gave her magic.”
“I thought it was ambrosia.”
Ben raised his eyebrows. “Ah, you do know your mythology. Different words, same thing. Anyway, Psyche became immortal, a god.”
“Nice story. “
“Yeah.” Ben turned away back to the stars.
Jed leaned in. “What’s wrong?”
It’s…nothing,” said Ben, shaking his head.
“No. Come on. What is it?”
Ben sighed. “I’ve lived a long time and I probably always will.”
Jed nodded.
“Since Ashur’s death and my curse, I didn’t think I would get a chance to be with anyone. I guess what I’m asking is,” Ben turned to Jed. “If I could get the magic again, would you take it and live forever with me?”
Jed furrowed his brow. “Are you proposing to me?”
“Hypothetically, yes. I know it’s a strange question.”
Jed drew closer to Ben. Their foreheads touched and their eyes locked.
“I would.”
Ben smiled. He came near, meeting Jed’s lips with his.
“But what would we do?”
“Oh, I haven’t a clue,” he said before he busted his laughter.
His mirth caused Ben to do the same as they both stargazed.
At this point, the Old Mill needs to be their official hangout/place. All the good stuff has happened there.

It might be too early to say this but Ima say it anyway…
Ben & Jed is the healthiest and most interesting relationship on this show.
Jed was a bully but he didn’t bully his crush. He’s grown over the seasons.
The relationship is not rooted in lies, deceit, abuse of power, and Stockholm Syndrome (sorry Freelin, even though I do love you). They are honest, patient and protective of each other but so far, not to the detriment of other people’s lives (Handon). That is all.
I wrote this a week before. I was waiting for my car to be inspected and wrote this. I’m just now sharing it.
Jed stood by the bonfire near the Old Mill. He eyed the hungry and leaping flames. He thought of Ben. Or his ancient alias, Prometheus. The Firebringer. The Bringer of Magic.
It had been a while since Lizzie returned with someone. Jen. Once known as Vulcan. Ben’s half sister. They had told of his escape and plan to raise their father, Ken, to bring his lost boyfriend back to life.
Jed balled up his fists at the memory of hearing those words. He ran his hands through his hair in a furious sweep. He didn’t want to believe it but Ben was not around.
How could I have been so stupid? Why did I think it could work?
They would part in the end. Ben was immortal and Jed would die. Still, he saw a future with him. Good and happy times together.
“Jed.”
The familiar voice made him turn around. Ben stood a few feet away. He was relieved to see him but the recent news stirred anger in his heart.
“Is it true? You woke your dad up.”
Ben hesitated but replied. “Yes.”
Jed progressed to him. His eyes flashed the yellow irises of the wolf inside of him.
Ben raised his hands in defense. “Listen to me. I can explain.”
“You’ve got five seconds before I pummel you,” he growled. “With your curse, I might just do it.”
“Jed, please.”
“You woke him up to bring your dead boyfriend?”
Jed was nearing to Ben but he stopped when Ben stopped. A look of shock and hurt graced the demigod’s face.
“What? Is that what they told you?”
“Is it true,” Jed’s voice cracked under anticipation.
“Jed, I woke my father to break my curse. To end my suffering.”
Jed didn’t respond.
Ben stepped toward Jed. “I loved Ash. I did and I lost him. Despite all I did, I lost him and suffered because of it. I didn’t want to go through that again. I did this because of you. For you.”
“For me,” whispered Jed.
“For us.” Ben took him by the shoulders. “You are my second chance and I’m not going to ruin it.”
Jed studied his face. He was telling the truth. He felt it.
“But your father, we’ll have to deal with him.”
Ben shook his head. “No. I woke him up. I’m in his favor. He won’t hurt you. Any of you. And if he tries, I will stop him.”
“No offense, but the last time you dealt with them-”
“That was the past. This is now.” He raised a hand to Jed’s face, cupping his cheek. “I will fight him. For you, I will.”
A relieved chuckle escaped Jed. He raised his hand to Ben’s neck and brought him in close for a kiss. The feelings of truth and hope acted like fuel to the passion they were experiencing.
Jed gazed in his eyes. “I missed you.”
Ben smiled. “I’m back,” he said before kissing him again.

Ben lay on the cot of the prison cell, staring at the ceiling. He could easily break out of the cell. It wouldn’t take long to bend and break the bars. He could find his father and acquire his boon.
But Jed.
Jed wouldn’t trust him again. He didn’t trust him right now.
Ben closed his eyes.
“Why,” said a familiar voice. Ben opened his eyes. Jed was standing on the other side of the cell. His arms crossed. His face was a mix of anger and hurt.
Ben got up. “Why what?”
Jed uncrossed his arms and placed his left hand on the bar. “Why didn’t you come and tell us?”
“I was trying to break my curse and to that, I had to free my father. You would have stopped me.”
“You’re damn right,” he seethed. “I would have stopped you to keep us and you from getting hurt. You know what your father is like. Why would you risk it?”
“I would have been fine. The boon is that of divine oath. No god can break their promise.”
Jed didn’t answer. Ben stepped forward closer to the bars. To Jed.
“I was trying to gain control over an inevitable situation. Your friend, the headmaster’s daughter, helped kidnap me with that woman,” he spat.
Jed’s lips parted.
“She threatened to kill everyone here including you. They both wanted to raise my family for their own purposes. I was doing the same.”
A silence hung over the room.
“You could have come to me.” His lip quivered. ”You could have trusted me.”
“I do trust you.” He placed his hand near Jed’s. “I love you.”
Jed looked at their close proximity of their hands Ben’s fingers reached out and caressed his skin. He looked back at Ben. His blue eyes pleaded for forgiveness and understanding.
He shook his head and backed from the bars, yanking his hand away.
“If you loved me, you wouldn’t have hurt my friends.”
“Jed, please,” Ben pleaded, his voice breaking from emotion. “I know I screwed up but I can make it right. I love you. I would do anything to protect you. I’ll prove it to you.”
Jed could feel the tears rising. He blinked them away and left the room.
“I’ll prove it to you,” Ben yelled. His words echoed for a few seconds. He hoped Jed was still around to hear. His own eyes were swelling. He lost all he loved and felt pain worse than all mortals through the millennia. But this hurt more. His heart ached and he gripped the iron bars for support. He closed his eyes, trying to quell his own tears but they escaped. Streaming down his cheeks. Falling and hitting the floor like rain from the sky.
“I’ll prove it to you,” he whispered. “If it’s the last thing I do.”
So I decided to make a full mock-up movie trailer of Firewolf. This is just a preview. I’m waiting for more clips from the episodes.
I made a fanvid that I might upload later here and/or on YouTube. I’m also working on some more fanfics. The way this ship has captured and jumped my creativity is amazing.
