It was my nephew’s first birthday this year and I made a little series as a reminder of where his mama and I grew up. Can’t wait to see him again- he is such a joyful little miracle!!

Adobe city of Chan Chan in northern Peru
Recovered from beneath the desert sands, this was the Chimu culture’s capital city - originally constructed around 850AD.

Wave riding in a traditional Peruvian reed boat
This Totora reed fishing boat is being ridden at Huanchaco, near Trujillo. They are one of the oldest known types of boats and are still constructed today in northern Peru.
